Over the course of their relationship, Barry had come to realize that he and Len were terrible at conflict resolution. Which wasn't to say they fought. When it came to serious issues, they were actually pretty good at healthy communication. But they bickered about the most ridiculous things, and neither of them ever wanted to admit they were wrong. More often than not, this devolved into seducing one another until someone gave up. They tended to alternate this role, not entirely intentionally, but there was a sort of pattern to it. He couldn't quite remember whose turn it was this time, but they'd have fun whoever it was. Correction, maybe they were fantastic at conflict resolution.
Still, Barry felt very strongly about Star Wars and wasn't quite so willing to back down on this one. Even with Len doing his utmost to distract him. He wasn't entirely sure how they got here, or how this relationship was possibly the most stable one he'd had in years, but he was incredibly grateful that they had. After everything he'd been through in his life, and everything he knew Len had been through, he felt like they deserved to have something good. And this thing between them was good.
"See, you're going against your own argument," he countered, even as he tilted his head to allow for Len's pointless attempts at leaving marks along his neck. "If you want to look at it as a Greek tragedy, focused on Vader's arc, you would need to watch the prequels first. Otherwise everything is disjointed." He laughed, leaning down and biting lightly at Len's throat before he spoke again. "And it's not about Episode I being a trainwreck...even though Midichlorians and virgin births take away from Anakin's story and Jar Jar is beyond irritating and everything is just a mess. It's about the parallels. You don't need Anakin's childhood for that."
He dragged Len into another kiss, breaking away long enough to pull off his boyfriend's shirt before taking a moment to appreciate the view. Len really was unfairly good looking. He removed his own, knowing it wouldn't stay on long if he didn't, then continued. "But, even keeping it in," he said, "you have to agree that watching Episode IV and V before the prequels allows for a cleaner narrative. And, I can't stress this enough, it preserves the important plot reveals, in the event you're doing a marathon with someone who's never seen them before. I hear they exist."
He made a quiet, pleased noise at Len's hands on his ass, before countering by resting more of his weight against his boyfriend and rocking their hips together ever so slightly. "Kylo Ren's story may be driven by Anakin's," he said, after a moment's pause to hold on to his composure, "but Rey is obviously paralleling Luke. Anakin's struggle for redemption is playing out in Kylo, whereas Luke's struggles to overcome anger and not fall to the Dark Side are what you see in Rey. Ultimately, she'll be the one to redeem him if the story follows to its logical conclusion."
