He hadn't really thought it through before he'd confronted Zoom. While he'd originally planned to fight him, that plan hadn't included running off with no real preparation. But Linda had been in danger, because of him, and he couldn't risk her getting killed. So he'd run. And everything else was a blur. Fighting Zoom. The pain. Whatever kind of person Zoom had been, he wasn't human. Not any more. He'd heard the crack when Zoom had hit his back, felt the blinding agony, but by then he'd barely been conscious. Being dragged around the city, then back to STAR Labs, Barry had really thought he was going to die. Jay had been right. There was no way he could stop Zoom. No way anyone could. He was a monster. Then someone had shot Zoom with the speed inhibitor and he'd been released. But everything faded away after that. It was probably for the best. He hadn't been in that much pain in a long time, his healing usually dealing with things before it got that bad. With Zoom gone, he'd been fine with just letting the darkness overpower him and unconsciousness take hold. When awareness finally returned, he wasn't even sure how long it had been. He heard a heart monitor beating, felt something holding his neck in place, something in his nose. He felt worse than he could ever remember feeling, and pulling himself fully to consciousness was not unlike swimming through maple syrup. "What..." The word was quiet, his voice raspy and weak. "How long..." He fully expected Cisco or Caitlin to answer, but realized quickly he wasn't in the Lab. Still, that wasn't important compared to - "Linda!" he gasped, as it hit him. "Where's Linda?" |
