WHO: Carol Ferris and Hal Jordan
WHAT: Talk of marriage and other adult serious relationship things that Hal normally doesn't talk about.
WHERE: Somewhere in the air over City Hall.
WHEN: Backdated to shortly after this exchange.
WARNINGS/RATINGS: Nothing too bad, but it's Hal, so banter is involved.
STATUS: Incomplete.
Carol Ferris was a woman who was known for planning things out. Hal always teased her constantly for her attention to detail, and making sure that everything was in its happy little place. Carol put a lot of thought into all of her important decisions, especially ones that were major, life-changing decisions. Like marriage. When Gil'd proposed to her, she'd taken her sweet time giving him an answer, trying to weigh all the options. She had convinced herself that that she had moved on from Hal, because he had died, and she owed it to herself to get on with her life. And even when Hal had come back from the grave, and all of the feelings that she always had for him had resurfaced, Carol was determined to make things work with Gil. But they didn't, and Carol had found herself yet again falling into Hal's arms.
She loved Hal. She'd tried telling herself time and time again that she didn't, after all of the ups and downs in their relationship, but she did. She always found her way back to him, every time. So, she'd stopped fighting, and just given into her feelings. Like everything else, how they got back together was a hell of a whirlwind, and the details were all kind of blur. The world was ending, Carol told Hal that she loved him, they saved the world from Nekron, yeah. Usual for them. Their entire relationship was an endless series of ups and downs and it was always non-stop, and while there were times when it drove Carol up a wall, she wouldn't trade what her and Hal had for anything in the world. It was messed up and all over the place, but it was their mess.
So...when talk of marriage came up, Carol's normal need to hesitate and plan things out went right out the window. Normally, she'd plan things out. But something about whatever her and Hal would end up planning would probably be perfect for them. And, if Hal Jordan was willing to commit to something so serious and adult-ish, Carol figured that she should probably take advantage of it before he changed his mind, or something happened that caused them both to back out. She didn't want to back out. Hal was the love of her life, and she was going to spend the rest of her life with him.
Carol waited for Hal outside of City Hall, hovering over the roof in the air. Thankfully, she'd gotten pulled into Jurassic City with her Star Sapphire Ring. Flying over the city, out of the way of any potential eavesdroppers, so her and Hal could just talk seemed perfect.
