WHO: Grant Ward & Kara Lynn Palamas WHAT: It's not exactly the sort of rescue mission he's used to, but he's adaptable. Especially when he's got help WHEN: After this WHERE: Jurassic City Streets RATING: PG
Ward knew that it was stupid, that with all of the people in the city, that his concern would peak after Wilson's comment on a stray dog. But he supposed his compassion and sympathy instincts were mixed up, to say the least, so maybe it wasn't nearly as surprising as it was stupid. He couldn't express how grateful he was to Kara, though. Few people had ever recognized much less acknowledged and supported his issues, and while there was a part of him, a rather large part still, that was afraid of what he had done to Kara or exacerbating that by staying around her, there was also an even larger part that was desperate not to lose her again. And, as with most things that Ward did, his selfishness had really won out in the end. And it didn't help that Kara kept insisting that he deserved things that he was pretty sure he didn't.
But her faith made him want to be a better person.
And this, he supposed, was a step in the right direction. Having strapped himself down with most of his gear, just in case they happened across some trouble in the process, Ward had stepped out of the apartment building, lingering on the stoop to wait for Kara. It was going to be hard, making any progress in the situation they were in, but even if they only managed to round out one or two animals, that was one or two that wouldn't end up food.
