I was able to make two and a half copies of the Guide to Raising Monsties before the copy machine fritzed out on me. They're bound, so I'm putting them at the front desk to Butler Hall if anybody wants to read through them. Just please make sure you return them when you finish so that anyone else who wants a chance can read through them, too.

Wally

Hey, mate. Checking in. How're you holding up out there? Or do you ever settle in your room or something?

I'm sorry I haven't reached out before now; I don't know if you saw, but I got turned into a dog and then it's been a little..weird on my end. Nothing bad! But if you need anything, let me know?

Edwin
Hey, guess what?

Brilliant. I think Eddie's working on a hatchery plan so hopefully we'll be needing those copies a lot.

Awesome! If someone knows anything about fixing the copier we might be able to get some more.

I just realized I completely forgot to try to scan it.

I don't know a thing about copiers or scanning anything but hopefully someone else will know what all that is.

..What kind of electronics did your world have? Most libraries have copy machines and scanning these days.

Just meant we didn't have much electronics in our library. Just books.

When you can get in at the library, I mean. You've got to sign up for a slot and the big agencies usually take all the good times. Wind up there at six in the morning half the time to get a spot. Right pain in the arse.

Maybe normal libraries. Research ones I go to, you've got to sign up or get lucky. Or pay.

Yeah. Uh. I picked room 124 but my key is at the front desk so, maybe don't let anyone check out that key? It keeps resetting back to that spot when I'm not using it. It beats fighting over the faculty room couch for a place to sleep.

I'll make sure Edwin knows and that we've got your name on the list.

Can't say I blame you. I can't believe you were trapped in a school for as long as you were- that's probably one of my worst nightmares.

There were other ghosts there. Actually a lot of ghosts. Most of them are looping, just sort of going through the motions of something they used to do when they were alive. A handful of us weren't. We were trying to figure out how to move on.

Plus with all the living people at the school, you never really felt alone.

I can sleep. I did it more when I was first a ghost. I don't do it as often.

I've been all over the campus trying to see if there's any connection to my key. There are a lot of classrooms, some of the doors are locked and I can't get into them or find regular keys for them yet.

Someone must have died in the kitchen though, because George could see me there. He said I could be his taste tester.

Fascinating. Sorry, it's just- the differences between us are interesting!

The key thing still confuses me a bit, mate, to be honest with you.

Oh, shit. Really? I wonder. But- I'm so jealous that you can actually taste things, mate. Stuff he makes smells so good.

Small? Not bad, really, just- weird. Hard to use the loo- nearly fell in once. The playing and the pets were fun, though!

At first I believed you were just sending me a message to tell me you love me. That is slightly ridiculous. Very, very appreciated. But ridiculous.

We will keep working on it, love. I know she'll warm up to you very soon. Perhaps we can take her out on the green again. That seemed to be effective.

And I do always enjoy hearing it. I just usually prefer it when I am able to kiss you to go along with it.

See? I'm sure she would appreciate the athleticism with you.

I will be taking my turn with the book this afternoon. Did you see anything that may help us with her? I haven't yet been able to give it a read.

Are you still working? Or are you somewhere else? I could come by and give you that kiss.

Hmm maybe. Probably moreso if I had treats for her tucked away somewhere. We'll try it.

There should be a couple copies at the front desk, unless the others have already taken 'em. There's a chapter on winged..monsties? That sounds silly, she's not a monster. But some of that might be helpful.

I am at the desk, yes. But I wouldn't say no to a kiss.

I will try to set something aside. Monty may also appreciate a visit. He seemed to have a good time with her when we stopped by.

There are, yes. I don't know what a "monstie" is meant to be. That is part of what intrigued me about the book. And I will be sure to take some notes. I feel as though she is growing far more quickly than I am prepared to manage.

I'm on my way. Gonna steal a kiss! Is it stealing if you're giving it willingly? Maybe I'll steal more than one.

How long are you working, anyhow?

Good. I'm glad they're still there. I need to remember to try to scan them later, see if we can make electronic copies.

At least she seems to be growing slower than the single week that some of the creatures in the book were!

I don't believe you can steal what is freely given. And I'll let you take as many as you like.

I hadn't made any specific plan. I can do my reading just as easily here as I can in the office, and it allows me to help the others if they need it.

Electronic copies may be useful. I haven't even considered what literature may exist on the computers.

Don't even speak that into existence, her paws leave me quite concerned about the size she is going to grow to.

There are a lot of electronic books out there. Or were, back at home.

Do we want to find a place for her here, or should I look into creating one of those poke-ball things?

There is hardly some supervisor I report to. I don't know that anyone expects me to be here, if I'm honest.

Is it?

This may be worth investigating. Who knows what sort of strange texts survived on those hard discs.

Something like Tootles' home may be a wise idea, so long as she reacts well to it. I don't wish for it to be upsetting. I mentioned to Captain Barnes the notion of perhaps turning one of the lecture halls into a temporary stables for her, if she becomes too large to stay in the rooms with us. To allow her freedom of motion.

Well, no, but I know you like your routine and I'm sure others would look for you if we didn't leave the sign.

Yeah, course it is.

We can start on that soon, maybe. It might be better saved for when Calliope is a little more independent.

No, I wouldn't want to upset her. But I think they act kinda like the bag, you know, bigger on the inside. A hall might be a good idea, too.

Perhaps we leave Calliope at the desk and she can distract them until we return. Or scare them off, to give us more time. And this place doesn't seem to want to allow me a routine no matter my efforts.

If George is correct and there are others keeping eggs, I dare say we may have more than just her to be worried after, and soon.

Tootles doesn't seem to mind it any, but I recall you saying they were common in his world. I don't know if it's something he is predisposed to? I am rather curious what they are like inside, but I have no idea how we may see that.

She's screaming less when you're not in her immediate vision. But even if she yells, maybe it'll mask us a little.

I haven't even seen anyone talk about actually having eggs yet on campus. But yeah, I suppose there will be more to worry about if they start collecting 'em.

I suppose that's possible, but there were several species there living in these kinds of balls. Some of them were nearly as big as a house.

I wonder if there's a way to try seeing the inside.

Any improvement is still a step forward. And what, exactly, do you expect there to be to mask, Charles?

We were incredibly lucky the nugget ended up being something relatively tame. I think it best we have a place to watch those who may be more wild.

As big as a house? I can't imagine that.

Are they able to be entered by humans? Or... could we, do you think?

Depends on how many kisses I get to steal.

Yeah. And it slept a lot, so it was hard to move.

I'm certain we would have made due. I am finding myself growing rather fond of her, after all.

A giant sleeping monster? What purpose would that serve?

I must admit I am surprised you have yet to try. But it may be for the best. For others who are considering using them, to know how they actually work.

I find myself rather interested in the provenance of that 'Hmm'.

When she is not being positively insufferable, yes, she does.

I don't know that you ever told me the story. You were able to choose them?

So we would need to construct one for the test, then. I assume that would be less troubling for Tootles, as well.

I know you said you have the page for them. We can work on that soon, and at worst, we'll have one for Calliope.
