LOG Title
Log Subtitle
NATASHa & yelena
Today? • The Green

The sisters come face to face for the first time since arriving. Yay.

⚠ Probably some mild violence? IDK with these two, man.

After being escorted to Derleth, Natasha was determined to scout every inch of the place. Not that she didn't trust those aorund her (she didn't), but this was just one of those things she needed to do herself. Get the lay of the land, so to speak. Truthfully, there was a small part of her that was hoping to rujn into someone from her own universe, to find out if the mission had succeeded. She supposed she could've asked Loki, but she didn't trust that she could actually believe anything that came out of his mouth. She'd walked the entirety of the campus nearly three times now, and she hadn't seen anything to be worried about - you know, other than the fact that she'd been pulled into some sort of extra-dimensional pocket world with the trash of the universe. Was she bitter about that? Maybe a little. She hadn't checked in with the network much since arriving; she probably should, but right now it wasn't among her top priorities. If she had, she would've known about Yelena being there. She wouldn't have been utterly blindsided when she turned a corner and set eyes on the familiar blonde. "Yelena?" Her sister's name was barely a whisper. It had been so long since she'd laid eyes on her; she had no idea if Yelena had been 'blipped' like some of the others. There was the possiblilty, however, that this Yelena was not of her own universe. What if she didn't know her? What if she was still under the influence of the Red Room. At that thought, Nat paused, one foot sliding back slightly as she took a low-key defensive stance, just in case.

The fact that Yelena didn't immediately take a defensive stance started to put her at ease a little. The whistle even more so. The corner of Natasha's mouth quirked up in a slight smirk at the familiar sound. It was enough that she relaxed her posture, and returned the whistle, just like they used to do. "The last time you and I ran into each other unexpectedly, we destroyed half the Budapest apartment. Plus, apparently we're all from different times, and universes here. I couldn't be certain you were my sister." Truthfully, she still wasn't completely convinced this was her Yelena. Similar, certainly, but until they'd had more time to talk, she couldn't be sure.

Doubting her sister almost felt like doubting herself.

"Yes, I am," Yelena said petulantly. Because of course if Natasha had to doubt, then Yelena would be (over) confident for them both. "We took down the red room. I gave you my really cool vest, and then I was gone for five years during blip and you fixed it and brought everyone back."

That wasn't it exactly. But Yelena could not bring herself to say Natasha died in the attempt. She didn't need to. Her face did. Yelena might have been the master assassin in the family, but Natasha was the master spy. This was one of those instances where Yelena didn't care if she kept a straight face anyway.

She may not have pulled out a weapon, but Yelena was willing to fight Natasha. Like any good little sister, she would argue to the death that she was right, then admit maybe Miss Perfect Avenger could have a point.

Of course she brought up the vest. Shaking her head, Natasha laughed. "It was a really cool vest." Of course, thinking about the vest made her remember the last time she wore it: the battle at Wakanda. Hearing that Yelena was one of those taken by Thanos' snap hit her hard, though. She hadn't known her sister's fate, not for certain. "I wondered what had happened - if you had been a part of those that disappeared. I couldn't be sure if you not answering my calls was just you being on the hunt for other Widows, or something worse."

It didn't escape her that Yelena didn't mention that she'd died, at least not verbally. Even if Natasha hadn't been trained to spot every little detail in a person's mannerisms and body language, it was written all over Yelena's face. "I'm sorry that I wasn't there when you came back. That I couldn't say goodbye." Her words propelled her forward, and she reached out to take Yelena's hand.
