Sam felt like he'd spent almost his whole day up to his arms in mud and twigs, so the prospect of a beer and a good meal was a very welcome one - after he'd had a good long shower to make sure he was clean enough to go visiting. "So busy," he confirmed, reaching into Miles' fridge for the promised beer. "Three separate call-outs to overeager growing spells, one of which was definitely growing less than legal substances. I'll have a mountain of paperwork tomorrow about that." The perpetrator, whoever he or she might be, had the good sense not to be present, but the DMLE ought to be able to find out who owned the land and thus who'd most likely been responsible for the variety of illegal plants that had been growing in it. "One of them was just some kid, maybe sixteen seventeen, who was trying to grow some flowers for his mum for Mother's Day." That had been very sweet, and Sam had spent extra time shrinking the tulips back down to a manageable size. "Speaking of, have you got mum something?" Liv had helped Sam pick out some fancy bath stuff, which Sam was sure was going to be a hit. "I'm off, so we can all pile round for lunch. Do you need to get Katie something, or do you wait until the baby's come?"
Standing at the kitchen counter, Sam made himself useful by setting a light warming charm on the tortilla wraps, then watched as Miles stirred things about. It was unusual, these days, that Sam would actually be cooked for. Liv provided food, of course, but mostly in the form of restaurants and take aways, while Sam did the actual cooking. "It smells great," he said eagerly. "Why don't we do this more often, have you cook food?" He waved away the suggestion that Miles might have disturbed anything. "Nothing we can't just do tomorrow," he promised. They hadn't had very serious plans, and Liv had been more than happy to tell Sam to go spend time with his brother.
