Katie had slept like a log and woke slowly, the smell of coffee and the far away sounds of somebody pottering about invading her dreams and forcing her to graze the surface of consciousness. At first, she didn’t think anything was amiss, but the sudden realisation that she was not alone or even in her own bed had the process of waking turn quite sudden.
Luckily the moment of panic was fleeting at best, the sight of Mile’s bedroom as she opened her eyes fully triggering her memory of the night before, relaxing her some and causing her to stretch as she rolled over and into the still warm space next to her, her eyes closing again as she tried to recall some of the night before. She knew for one she hadn’t intended on staying at Miles’ place. She’d felt daring enough even propositioning him- though wine always did have an effect on Katie that had her feeling rather confident when it came to the opposite sex- and though he’d been eager, she’d expected she’d give him his ‘gift’, that they’d fool around flirting like they’d done plenty of lately and, well… Katie had hoped it would lead to more, Miles being, exactly as she’d claimed the day before, always very thorough and satisfying.
What Katie hadn’t banked on was that the flirting would be minimal and that Miles would be quite so willing to indulge her, especially after an afternoon drinking cake flavoured vodka and considering the time it was by the time she’d arrived. Not, that Katie was about to complain, she couldn’t remember the last time she’d felt so satisfied and spent, though she could feel an unpleasant niggle at her thigh that she already knew was likely to scream in pain as soon as she put weight on it, and as she rolled back and into the space in which she’d been sleeping she opened her eyes, her ears picking up the sound of Miles’ footsteps but not quite anticipating how close he actually was.
“Coffee.” Katie hummed in approval, shifting to sit up, holding the sheets to loosely cover her, not caring too much if it didn’t cover her completely or if they fell. She contemplated summoning her wand for a moment, but not having any immediate use for it she left it, instead watching as Miles settled himself back into bed and chucking at his question. “I don’t think I said much of anything last night, did I? Never mind about the gala.” It was an over exaggeration. Katie remembered mumbling some things and making plenty of sounds. She even mentioned a few people that’d been there and her regret at not changing her plans and taking him along with her- if only to present her with the opportunity to admire him in a suit that was fancier than the type she’d seen him wear for work.
“But yeah, it was good.” She nodded, smiling to herself, a few specific memories making themselves known now that she was awake properly. “I can’t remember much of the afterwards though- didn’t we just go to sleep?” She asked, trying to look thoughtful. “Whatever we did… it knocked me out cold. I haven’t slept like that in ages.” And as if to prove her point she yawned, lifting a hand to cover her mouth and laughing as it tailed off.
