Who: James and Andromeda When: January 9, 1977, very late at night Where: out on the lawn What: an unexpected encounter leads to an unexpected conversation. Rating: no higher than PG, I'm sure, as is the usual for me.
She couldn't sleep. This was beginning to become a normal routine for her, this whole being unable to sleep. Yet, unlike during this past holiday, she didn't have the city to wander around in. The closest thing she had to that here in Hogwarts was the lawn outside, where the odds of her being disturbed would be little to none. To further tempt her, the blue-green hues of her dorm only made her think about the lake, which was outside.
Rising carefully from her bed so that she would not disturb her dormmates, the girl draped a heavy dark grey cloak over her nightgown, slipping her feet into a pair of boots, and quietly tiptoed out of her dormitory. As a Prefect, she knew she shouldn't be up after hours on nights when she didn't have her rounds, although the girl could not help but feel that when it came to certain things, the school was willing to turn the blind eye toward, and felt alright about her wandering outside at this hour.
Once she was outside, she crossed the lawn and walked up to the lake, staring into its glassy black depths, musing over the fact that just beneath the calm waters were her Housemates, soundly sleeping. For the most part, anyway. She drew her cloak closer around her slender frame just a bit more as a gust of chilly winter air blew past her, whipping her long hair all about her face. What she hadn't anticipated on, however, was the soft trudging of feet not too far from where she stood, and the girl turned around to see who this unexpected company was, a mildly worried frown forming on her brow.
