She watches as he visits his wife's grave yet again. He still calls her 'kiddo' not realizing how much those words kill her. Yet she's addicted to him as he is addicted to brooding and his hat. She inhales sharply. ' You will never see me will you?' she thinks to herself. She remembers when he said to her 'Hey there ,Princess', his smile, their hug that lasted a few moments longer than it should. That had given her hope but alas not long after it was back to 'Kid' or 'Kiddo'.
'Don't dream too far Don't lose sight of who you are Don't remember that rush of joy He could be that boy I'm not that girl Ev'ry so often we long to steal To the land of what-might-have-been But that doesn't soften the ache we feel When reality sets back in'
She had seen her picture and remembered her from the holographic. A beautiful blonde. Girl next door charm. Quiet, graceful, and calming. Everything DG was not. She had tried to turn into a woman he could fall in love with but even after over a year since their journey, nothing happened. She was competing with a ghost and the ghost was winning.
'Blithe smile, lithe limb She who's winsome, she wins him Gold hair with gentle curl That's the girl he chose And heaven knows I'm not that girl...'
He turns to her and smiles. Her heart flutters. Maybe there's hope but that's quickly dashed when he tells her of how Edora hated women in pants, very unladylike. DG ever the pants wearer tries to hide her hurt . She has learned to do this with profection when it comes to Wyatt Cain. She wonders why she puts up with it. Why she constantly asks him to stay when he so obviously wants to die and be with his Adora. Then she remembers, he's her drug. She will always need her daily fix. She can't quit him and probably never will.
'Don't wish, don't start Wishing only wounds the heart I wasn't born for the rose and pearl There's a girl I know He loves her so I'm not that girl... '
