Klaus had thought this would be his second chance to get things right, but it seemed he had been mistaken. It seemed that the people around him only wanted to see the worst in him...even his own brother was determined to favor their darling sister when she had betrayed the both of them. Hayley of course preferred his brother even though she was married to him and carrying his child. He would be lying if he said it all didn't hurt. He had said once that his sister was the only one who had ever ripped his heart out, but he had been lying then. Elijah, his father, his mother, Caroline, Hayley.....the list went on and on. So, yes he had hardened himself against the world and then same people that caused it only judged him for it. Elijah had once told him that family was power...love...loyalty. How was he supposed to know that? He had never had any of those things.
Those thoughts were all rushing through his head as he sat in the chair surrounded by the books of the biggest library he had ever seen. There were actually tears in his eyes, which of course he wiped away when one of the household maids made her way over to him. She was there to inform that Hayley was awake and she wished to see him. The two had been meant to speak the night before, but she had been asleep when had finally made it to their chambers. So, he had left her there and made his way to the library. He had slept in that chair....what little he had slept. He thanked the made and stood from his chair and made his way down the hall.
When he came to their chambers he walked in the room. He didn't have a smile in him to give, so he just bowed his head slightly. "You wanted to see me?" he said, his tone even.
