When his jaw clenched, Laurel pulled her hand back, stepped back, but she kept her fingers laced with his. Her eyes studied him, "Oliver, if you would have gotten there, I could have lost both of you." Laurel said sadly, "I don't think I would have even survived this long if that had happen."
