Ain't No Party Like an X-Men Party Who: Everybody! What: Homecoming party! When: Friday, October 7th - early evening! Where: The common room at the Institute! Warnings: TBD!
The common room was all decked out for the welcome back party; a large buffet was set up on one side of the room, with plenty of options for snacking and wholesome, non-alcoholic drinks and the walls were decorated with streamers, balloons, and a few hand-painted signs... just to make sure that all of the typical high school party decorating tropes were covered. A music station was set up in the corner, running a pre-programmed playlist until the time came that someone was brave enough to step up to it and deviate from the playlist, and there was plenty of room for people to dance if they felt so inclined. Another corner of the room held the small bar, with a selection of alcoholic drinks for the staff members who didn't feel like sneaking away to their own stashes upstairs. Students: approach with caution, you're being watched. There was plenty of seating available as well to accommodate those who felt like sitting instead of dancing. Some tables were set out with chairs around them, and the room's sofas and armchairs had been rearranged into a handful of lounge areas, some more private than others.
According to the mass text reminder sent out earlier in the day, the dance was set to begin promptly at seven, and while attendance was by no means mandatory, it would be pretty obvious if anyone neglected to make an appearance. Aside from the thrill of the awkward high school dance, the party was a great opportunity for newer students to actually meet the staff and their classmates, and for returning students to discuss the sordid details of how they spent their summer vacations... or to complain about already having a test to study for in computer sciences. Thanks for nothing, Ms. Pryde.
((MOD NOTE: The party is open to students and staff alike, so go nuts! Feel free to do big group conversations or break it all down into smaller sub-threads.))
