Mini Laptop Bag
Very easy little bag worked in stocking stitch with a moss-stitch strap. Fits a standard mini laptop.
Materials: I used 2 strands of 4-ply knitted together for this project. A single strand of Aran would also work.
Colour A - about 60g, colour B - about 35g. 5mm and 4mm needles.
1 large button.
Tension - 19sts per 10cm/4" over stocking stitch on 5mm needles.
Main Piece
This is worked in Stocking stitch throught.
With 5mm needles and 2 strands 4ply, cast on 48 sts in shade A. *Wk 6 rws ss. Change to shade b and, carrying shade a, work 8 rows ss. Change back to shade A, carrying shade B* Repeat * to * 8 more times.
In shade A, work 3 rows, knitting/purling 2 tog at end of next 3 rows. Cast off, purling 2 tog at beginning of cast off row.
Break off both shade A and B.
Handles
With 4mm needles, cast on 9 sts in shade A. Work 56" in moss stitch. Cast off in moss stitch.
Making Up
With wsf, fold the main piece at the middle of the fouth stripe of shade B (this is about 8" from the cast-on edge). Sew the sides together and turn the bag right side out. Sew the ends of the strap together and postion on bag as shown. Sew into place at each edge of the strap, remembering to leave room for the bag flap to be closed. Make a button catch from 3x2 strands of yarn plated together and sewn onto flap. Position button on front of bag and sew into place. Finish off yarn ends.
