A quick gift idea pattern I cobbled up for a novice knitter friend. Help keep your wine at the right temperature all the way down to the last glug. Very adaptable, as you can dress up a bottle in lots of ways to suit the season/occasion.
(Please note: This pattern and the associated image are completely worksafe, but as I also knit adult novelty dolls, some material on this knitting journal is not. If browsing the journal, please pay attention to the (very clear) warnings in the subject lines. I'm very happy for people to link to my patterns, but if you wish to link to any adult/nws content, please be nice and include a warning with the link. Thank you. Now, less of my waffle; let's get knitting.... :))
Ridiculously Easy Wine Cosies
Materials: 50g chunky yarn for main piece. Oddments for scarf/polo neck if required. Beads or other decoration as you choose.

Polo Neck and Scarf: Both knitted on 4mm needles, neck in chunky, scarf in dk.
For neck, cast on 22 sts and work in k2, p2 rib, as follows:
Row 1:K1 *p2, k2* repeat * to* to last 3 sts, p2, k1 Row 2: P1 *k2, p2* repeat * to* to last 3 sts, k2, p1
Repeat these 2 rows another 8 times, cast off in rib, sew up seam, darn in ends and pop the neck over the plain, stocking-stitched one.
Scarf: cast on 50 sts, work 6 rows in garter stitch. Cast off. Add tassles and knot the scarf around the bottle.(Okay, you probably guessed that last bit. Sorry :p)
SAFETY: Before you place any sort of textile cosy onto a bottle, you’d be wise to snap a couple of sturdy rubber bands onto the bottle itself, to make sure it doesn’t slip out of the cosy when you pick it up.
