Who: John and Jamie What: Meeting, greeting, commiserating When: During Creative Writing/Lunch on Tuesday (first day of classes) Where: Hanover Hall (where the classrooms are), cafeteria Rating/Warnings: Low/None
During Orientation, John and the other freshman boys had been warned that Mr. Wallace, the RA for their floor, had a special way of rousing reluctant risers in the morning. They had all laughed, thinking he was joking. The joke had been on them: this morning Mr. Wallace had gleefully stood outside more than a few doors blasting Reveille on a real, live bugle. John would have liked to say he wasn't behind one of those doors, but he would have been lying. Never again though!
Classes here had been okay at least. Tuesday meant English, which he thought he was really going to like. Harry Potter for their first book! He'd already read it! And Math was... well, Math, but it hadn't been too awful. But this, Creative Writing, was the most fun yet.
Mr. Nicolaides had paired them all off randomly for the first exercise, and John had ended up with a girl he hadn't really spoken to yet, Jamie. He smiled at her as they shifted their desks closer together. "Hi," he said with a smile. "I'm John, and I'm kind of... really crap at writing, so I apologize in advance."
