Who: Kyle and Bella What: Bonding, bitching, and catching up When: Sunday evening Where: Staff Bar
The last few days had been more than an emotional whirlwind for Kyle. When she arrived at the resort, Kyle was excited for a new beginning and pretty psyched to catch up with old friends while learning to relax a little better on the beaches on the island. However, the world clearly had a different idea in mind for her and decided to throw a shitstorm at her within hours of her actually arriving there. Within just a few minutes, Kyle's life was flipped upside down as she ran into her ex-boyfriend, Jacob, with his son, and just moments after that, she learned that not only was he engaged, but that apparently her leaving the ship was the best thing to happen to him. Kyle had no doubt that was true. It was obvious that he was being honest about that, but hearing him say that was a dagger to her heart. Even worse was Jacob's comment that she'd probably never find a guy, something that had worried and plagued her for years. It was one thing to believe certain things yourself, but when you hear it from someone you had loved, it was a pain that she couldn't begin to describe. Maybe Bella was right. Maybe it was all in the past and she needed to move on, but it was hard when it was right there in front of you. No one wanted to see their ex-boyfriend, the only guy she ever actually loved, be happy with his new life right in front of them. It was a pain she didn't wish on anyone.
Kyle had been successful at avoiding her apartment as often as possible since running into Jacob. The news that she'd be rooming with Jacob's baby mama or whatever the fuck she was was the cherry on top of the shit sundae that was her life. There was no fucking way she'd be staying there and she already put in for a transfer out of that apartment. On top of that, she was torn about what to do. She couldn't stay there, not with Jacob and his perfect life being flaunted in front of him. But she also couldn't leave when she had no job waiting for her at home. She did a lot of running in those days and made sure to wander the island, trying to clear her head. She only returned at night, late while Allie was asleep, she was sure, and she was out of there early. If she saw the girl who had given birth to Jacob's son, Kyle wasn't sure what she would do.
Sitting at the bar, another way of avoiding the apartment, Kyle nursed a beer, her right hand wrapped to keep the swelling down as she had hit a wall or two. She was doing her best not to slam them down like she used to but it was hard as she thought to herself. So deep in her thoughts, Kyle didn't even notice someone familiar sit beside her.
