Cait's fingers flexed against his body, pressing more tightly and then gentling again. "You're terrific," she answered while leaning up to kiss him briefly on the mouth. It always gave her a weird thrill to do that anywhere they might be caught - not quite anticipation, but not quite fear - but now that she'd given herself a few minutes to stand still she was starting to feel her adrenaline. "We should've gone for a water landing," she said quietly. "We would've, but - " But her mask had malfunctioned. That hadn't been the only factor, but if Aloysius hadn't had to adjust their altitude for her sake they might've had the height necessary to manage it. Cait knew Emmett would never agree with that, though, so she bit her tongue.
"I think I saw beaches on our way in," Cait said with an almost smile. "We could sneak away, once everyone is taken care of, and have some fun in the sun..." The prospect was more exciting than it should have been: a beach all to themselves, rescue maybe a few more minutes away, and Emmett. Maybe it was selfish to want to focus on something normal after the plane wreck, but when Cait pulled back enough to look up at Emmett she almost felt like herself again.
