When she saw Emmett glance down at his watch, Cait lightly set a hand on his wrist so she could get a look at it, too. Her sense of time was shot, her nerves weren't far behind, and his timing was on point. She leaned into the hand on her cheek until he let it fall away. Small though it was, Caitlyn felt steadier for the touch; steadier because of him.
Emmett was right. It'd only been an hour, no matter that it felt like they'd been in the sky a lifetime ago. They were going to be found and rescued. Cait stole a look over her shoulder toward the group of travelers, then took Emmett by the hand. She squeezed her fingers around his and said, "You're right. About them finding us." There was still that tight feeling in her chest, but it felt a little smaller now. "There is one thing you can give me..."
Cait tugged Emmett a little farther away from the group: still within sight, but blocked more by the brush growing along the waterways. No guarantee they wouldn't be spotted, but enough of one that this time she didn't hesitate to nudge her way into his arms for a proper hug. She had been so scared those few minutes after the crash, when things had finally gone still and her first thought had been Emmett. Even worse than when she'd started to lose consciousness earlier in the cockpit. "This is all I need," she said into his shoulder.
