🎃 Halloween Party

(Mostly) Teens Only!

To say Kazuki had gone overboard...was a bit of an understatement.

He'd probably bought out the entire decor section at Evil Target, from the lights to hanging skeletons in the bathroom, to the projector cobweb light he hung on the dancefloor of his apartment. He moved the furniture aside to make room for it, a feat he was still shocked he had managed on his own. For food, he'd scoured the Pilot City Web for all sorts of ideas. Blood bags with juice, chocolate decorated strawberries, ghosts made of marshmallows, almost anything that looked fun, he did. By the time Kazuki was done with the place, it was straight out of the movies.

Back home, he and Haruka used to dress up. Halloween mostly meant dressing up at school or doing a few activities for fun. Kazuki had always wanted to do a party. He was usually focused on his studies to get into a good college. But he wasn't home right now. He could do what he wanted. He'd worked extra hard this month to pull in enough tips and donations to make this event extra fun.

Plus...Toi was coming. Toi's first party had to be perfect!

"That should do it," Kazuki finished hanging the pumpkin lamps up. He had finished getting ready a little while ago. Toi didn't want to do anything crazy, so he didn't do too much makeup himself. His eyes fell to the kitchen counter, where the two plates sat. Gotta hide those.

Kazuki took the plates and shoved them in the top of his bedroom closet, careful to not let the plates interact with his skin. Once they were secured, Kazuki closed and locked his bedroom door.

He took a deep breath, glancing at the clock. His doorbell rang. 5pm. Right on time.

"Hey guys, come on in!"

Armed with knew knowledge about gatherings that he had obtained from Ness, Ree felt like he was ready to do very well in "party".

After doing some research into "Halloween" "All Hallows'" "Oktoberfest" "Day of the Dead" "Fall Festival" and "The Night of Haunting", Ree ultimately decided that since costumes were called for in the majority of cases, he would wear a costume. For one of the first times, he ditched his standard style of rainbow onesie accented with the scarf that was formerly with Fracxis. He swapped it with a loudly patterned jester outfit for the festivities. Ree couldn't figure out what it was about clowns that was supposed to be so scary, but it was rated in the top ten scariest Halloween costumes in all of his internet searches, so he decided to go with it. Ree really only smiled around Scourge and when he was learning some new research, so he opted to amend his standard scowl with the drawn-on smile that many clown costumers recommended.

As expected, the party was full of food. The blood bags looked a lot like capri-suns, so he grabbed one of those. He bit down on the thing wholesale, and slurped the drink out of the teeth-holes.

Ree had learned, in his research on parties, that it was a good idea to locate and greet the host for their provision of goods. With that goal in mind, he wandered around the well-decorated apartment, bumping into people on occasion as he searched for the orange-headed host.

Ree | Scourge

Scourge had saw the invite on the network, and like many social gatherings, he assumed he wasn't going to be invited. Which is why he decided to crash it. It'd be more fun that way. Besides, by the amount of people in this damn apartment, it was going to be hard to even notice him. He stole some toilet paper from the Evil Target and donned a makeshift mummy outfit that he figured could be used to egg this very apartment later, if the situation called for it. Scourge was many things, but he wasn't wasteful.

When he arrived, Scourge was incredibly disappointed with the lack of wildness that had been promised. He thought this was a Halloween rager, but this just looked like a bunch of fuckin' moms hanging around sipping punch and dancing appropriately on the dancefloor. What a buzzkill.

This party needed a serious reboot. Thankfully, ol' Scourgey was on the case.

In a flash, he had stopped by the drug-store, shoplifting some quality vodka-like liquor, throwing the change on the counter, and then snuck back into the party.

"Hey, Ree, check this out," Scourge bumped into Ree as the kid was roaming around. He flicked the top off the bottle, then snuck the liquid in to the punch bowl. "That should do the trick. Hey, sweet costume by the way, that's rad as hell."

The compliment was as genuine as Scourge could be. Ree always liked very loud clothes. Scourge wasn't a fan of them himself. It was hard to match green, an unforeseen difficulty of permanently changing his appearance. But compared to the rest of the party, Ree stood out. And that kind of shit was cool. Scourge liked to stand out. Ree was with him, an honorary of his gang. If he ever got the chance to come home, he'd bring Ree with him.

"Want me to pour ya some?" Scourge asked, already pouring himself a plastic cup of the now spiked punch.

Now, that Scourge was here, the party was officially cool. Until now, it had been like the mixer-- interesting, but not fun. Now it was fun.

"Yes! I give you thanks. Your mummy costume is also rad as hell," Ree declared, giving Scourge an approving nod. He downed the punch that Scourge offered. "Together we will conquer hell--blech! What is this? This is shitty juice." Ree had picked up the word "shitty" from Scourge and saw it used by a few others on the network, and was now putting it to good use. It seemed to adequately describe the taste of this punch. It tasted like bad fruit.

As the fuzziness settled in his gut, Ree gradually came to realize that everything seemed to be a good idea. Even things that Scourge liked to do that Ree wasn't sure about, like bank robbing. Banks, places of bad hoarding, went against the entire concept of sharing and communal survival anyway.

"Scourge," he said, with a hiccup, "We should rob a bank together sometime."

Other things that were generally bad ideas, like biting strangers and hugging Scourge, were also starting to seem like better and better ideas by the minute.

Toi was taken aback by how much Kazuki did for the party. He really went all out in decorating... It was slightly overwhelming, but also reminded him of something Keppi would do. Maybe Kazuki and Keppi were a little too similar for his comfort. Nevertheless he was here for Kazuki, he wanted to try and be friendly because it would make him happy. Still, Toi was so thankful his ninja costume blended into the shadows of the party, cause boy did he wish he was one.

He'd been a little late, so when he'd arrived he just let himself in. Which meant it was his goal to find Kazuki. Where did he go... Probably the kitchen? He could only assume the bedroom was locked and probably his streaming room? No doubt Kazuki took those precautions just in case things got a little wild. He made his way through the crowd to try and find the kitchen.

There were all sorts of Halloween decorated snacks on the counters and the table. He was pretty impressed that Kazuki pulled all this together. He definitely had an eye for event planning like this. Toi wouldn't have thought of any of these details. I should get something to drink and mingle like Chikai said... Toi decided as he took a moment to himself in the kitchen. The loud music from the living room wasn't quite as loud in here. He walked over to the tub of ice and drinks by the punch table. There was a skeleton sticking out of the ice tub which made him chuckle. He reached for his drink before cracking open a grape soda. Toi stood to the side and used this time to glance around at the party around him.

"You made it!"

Kazuki's heart leaped when he saw Toi had come to the party. Of course he'd prepared for him to come. But a part of him was worried he'd get cold feet and back out at the last minute. He should've never doubted him. When was there a time Toi wasn't true to his word? Not counting the otter-war stuff, of course.

Up until he saw Toi, Kazuki had been replenishing the snacks that had been eaten, and slowly making sure his trash was changed so people could continue to dump their red cups in there once they'd finished. He wanted the party to remain as clean as possible, even though he knew at some point it'd tip over. Thankfully, he'd told his followers he couldn't stream for a little while. At least now he'd have the time to clean up. But enough of that! He wanted to live in the now.

"How is it?" Kazuki smiled, getting a drink of his own. "I know, I kind of went overboard. But, I've always wanted to go to a Halloween party. Just like in the movies!"

As the two talked, Wither's playlist turned to playing a fun-spooky Halloween song. The dancefloor flooded with people, but there was still plenty of space.

"I love this song! Let's go dance!" Without thinking about it, Kazuki grabbed Toi's hand and started leading him towards the dancefloor.
