On Friday, there will be an announcement that due to scheduling conflicts with UEFA 2004 (having to do with some silly muggle sport called "football") Portugal has declined hosting privileges for this year's European Quidditch Cup Finals. In an act of good will, the British Ministry of Magic has offered to host the ceremonies in lieu of Portugal. As a result, the Quidditch Association Challenge Cup (our regular Quidditch season) will be postponed until September, in order to accommodate for the summer championships. This will not only allow our game to put the Quidditch Season where it rightfully belongs (September - May), but will also give us the opportunity to host and enjoy the Euro Cup!
However, as none of our current Quidditch players have ever mentioned being a part of the England National Team, no one should suddenly "be on the team". The National Team is a team comprised of players who play tournaments year round, and not just a team that is formed whenever the Euro or World Cup comes to town. If anyone does have an interest in their characters being a part of England's National Team, let's chat! With the dangers of Quidditch, I'm sure we can work something out :)
In other news, I have planned out a schedule for the Euro Cup and will post it Friday. I am also going to come out with a scrimmage schedule, which the Ministry will set in place as an apology for interrupting what has become the "normal Quidditch Season". The scrimmages will be just for fun, and publicly attended in order to raise money to host the Euro Cup. At some point in the near future, I will post a QACC schedule, which will feature every team playing every other team TWICE, rather than once like last season, culminating in another batch of finals. June through August will become the new off-season for Quidditch in Britain, as it was originally in the books.
As always, questions, suggestions, corrections, etc are welcome and encouraged. Lord knows I've probably missed something, or that things could be done better than what I have planned above.
