WHO: Weasleys, Hermione Granger, Audrey Baxter, Penelope Clearwater, NPC Molly and Arthur Weasley WHEN: April 21, 2004 WHERE: Ginny's house STATUS: Incomplete RATING: TBA SUMMARY: Ginny drops the pregnancy bomb on her family.... NOTES: Putting this up now because I have class during the day/rehearsal at night. Also, anyone that wants to NPC Molly and Arthur are welcome to it.
When Ginny had written her dinner invitation to her family she'd had a lot of bravado and moral support (in the form of Harry sitting next to her) on her side. She had spent most of the day in St. Mungos for therapy and an appointment with a Healer who had confirmed what she had already known - she was pregnant with a boy who would arrive roughly around the first of December.
That had meant Ginny had gotten pregnant most likely due to the cauldron cakes, although pain potions from the accident had diminished the effects of her contraceptive potion to go a long way towards putting her in the current situation. But how she had gotten this way wasn't something she really felt concerned about, she was thrilled about the baby despite not having been planning for when. The story of how it happened was mostly just a highly amusing tale that she couldn't wait to tell Harry. The only problem was that except that he was currently somewhere far away from their house helping to set a trap for Chernobog, he had missed the appointment with the Healer for the same reason.
Being Harry, the owl sent from his post had been apologetic. Ginny certainly understood that things happened in the Auror department which kept him from being home, she just wished that something could have happened after dinner. She couldn't very well assemble everyone to her house with the promise of revealing a secret only to go back on her word because she was suffering a lack of Gryffindor recklessness and bravery.
It had been difficult enough trying to keep everyone distracted during dinner itself. Repeatedly explaining Harry's absence had helped keep the focus off of why they were all there, and other subjects such as WWW and Hermione moving in with Ron had also helped but she could still feel the eyes of every single person lock on her multiple times as she slowly ate her food.
The only problem was that dinner was now over beyond the dessert which her mum had taken upon herself to serve to everyone. The room was as silent as it ever really got in a room full of Weasley's and her dad was just wearing a look that said he had a good guess what exactly was going on - obviously her parents had been speculating or perhaps Arthur Weasley just knew that his daughter needed silent moral support.
Whatever he thought the kind eyes and small smile went a long way towards restoring her confidence, and before she had really processed what was happening Ginny found herself on her feet facing her family.
"I....um...." she began softly, wincing at how young her voice sounded. That wasn't going to do at all because her news was going to come with enough complaining and protesting as it was. Appearing as if she were anything but completely confident wouldn't help.
With a toss of her hair Ginny cleared her throat and squared her shoulders to bring herself up to her full height, "Harry wanted to be here for this but the Aurors called him in at the last minute to solve some sort of problem with tracking a Death Eater. Otherwise I wouldn't be telling anyone this alone, its not really the sort of thing you say alone because its such a big life changing thing. But I got all of you here with promising to tell you what I've been so excited about, and its awful to send you home empty handed...."
From the expectant look of her mum Ginny was sure she was waiting to see the flash of a diamond on her left hand and an announcement about a fall wedding rather than a little blue vial being placed on the table - label removed as to not ruin the surprise.
"I'm pregnant." she said, sucking in a breath to wait for the room to explode for better or for worse - or even a mix of both.
