"I know it's not," Percy replied, emotionally, with a hint of dry sarcasm. "But it is what one says under these circumstances." What else could he say to ease her pain? He was at a loss. Sometimes an act of physical contact said more than what a volume of words couldn't. He wasn't sure if his hand contact was sufficient, but that was the most he'd be willing to do, under the circumstances.
