Penelope's night had been rough. Besides the visits by Charlie and her mother, she'd had hourly visits from Healers shoving more Blood-Replenishing Potion down her throat. Every time she swallowed that revolting potion, she wished desperately that she hadn't been so bloody stupid. She knew if she were a Muggle, however, that she'd have had to undergo an emergency blood transfusion. So it could have been worse. It was hard to imagine anything worse than the taste of that potion, though.
Her room was already an explosion of colour from the flowers she'd been sent. Considering it hadn't even been an entire day, she was pretty sure that a lot of that was her mother's work. The magazine had sent her a ridiculous display of flowers that took up its own small table, her mother had sent her a vivid display of snapdragons (Penny was pretty sure there was a message in her mother's choice of flowers), and her stylist friend from work had sent her a Japanese ikebana-style arrangement.
Penny wasn't exactly asleep right now, just in that limbo between sleep and waking. She heard the footsteps in her room and hoped it wasn't another dose of potion on its way to make her gag. "Just let me die already," she groaned, opening her eyes to see...not a Healer. "Oh. Hi, Percy." She swallowed nervously; she hadn't seen her ex-boyfriend since the night of the cupcake incident. Pushing herself up slowly, she winced with the pain that still plagued her midsection. She was much stronger than she'd been hours ago, but she was still paler than normal and her face was still sunken. The night hadn't been particularly restful, either, and dark shadows had formed under her eyes. "How's George?"
