WHO: Penelope & Charlie WHEN: Foredated to Tuesday night WHERE: Penny's flat WHAT: Penny's birthday! RATING: High
Penny spent the majority of her birthday the same way she always did: at the spa. Her fingernails and toenails were shiny with a new French mani/pedi, her skin felt refreshed from a seaweed wrap, her muscles felt relaxed from a massage and her hair was a bit lighter and shinier after her haircut. She'd had the ends trimmed and her bangs shortened and the stylist had straightened it for her as well. All in all, it had been a very relaxing day. And it wasn't even over yet. What could be arguably the best part of the day was yet to come.
Other than her time at the spa, she'd spent the day rather nervously. She'd already cleaned her entire flat from top to bottom the day before, so she couldn't even scrub something to keep her mind off the night ahead. An esthetician at the salon had groomed her eyebrows and applied makeup as part of the package her mum had bought her, so trying to perfect her makeup wasn't really an option, either. There was really nothing to do but wait, glancing at the clock every few moments to make sure it hadn't stopped working.
Penelope wasn't confident enough in her decision to answer the door wearing the...the outfit she'd purchased. Instead, she was barefoot in a dark blue silk robe with an Asian-themed print. The robe wasn't too short as to be overdone, nor long enough to be considered suitable for an older woman. She also wanted to have enough time to talk with Charlie before things..progressed. If she answered the door in that damn costume..well, Penny didn't think there would be a lot of talking going on. Despite it being her birthday, she had a little gift for him, too.
So caught up in thought was she that the knock signaling Charlie's arrival nearly made her jump straight up from her position on the couch. Putting her hand over her chest to calm herself, Penny stood and crossed the room to the door slowly, smoothing her hair. She opened the door slowly. "Hey! Come on in."
