Penny's heart was thumping a bit harder than she would have liked. This wasn't supposed to be a problem for her. She was the one making the decision and Percy was the one receiving the news. He was taking this all in a rather stoic fashion, however. Perhaps she'd misjudged the situation and he hadn't felt anything for her. Wishful thinking? She hoped not.
Ignoring the tattoo her heart was beating on her chest, she tried to remain as emotionless as he seemed. She wasn't as well-versed in being uncaring, however. "Well, you didn't make much of a case for yourself if you were at all interested," she said, not a little sadly. Then something he'd said registered a little more clearly. He was glad? She'd spent a week with some of the worst guilt she'd ever felt.. for him to be relieved not to have been chosen. Much ado could have been avoided if he'd told her that sooner. "Apparently I have, if you're so relieved to be rid of me. I thought.." But she cut herself off and shook her head. It was a moot point, now. "Never mind."
