"Lisa knows what's good, then," Penelope said approvingly. "I suggest you try adding peppermint to the coffee next time if you like that sort of thing." She was already starting to feel the effect of the coffee. Everything seemed a lot more vivid now.
"Thanks." She took one of the beans and popped it into her mouth, making a very unhappy face as she chewed. "I hate it when things taste too strongly of coffee. Coffee shouldn't even taste like coffee." Immediately, she took a drink of her coffee...to drown the taste of real coffee.
Penelope crossed and uncrossed her legs under the pretense of trying to get comfortable in the chair, but she was really attempting to find the right words to fit the occasion. "Sooooo," she said slowly, "about the talk we were supposed to have at some point." She cleared her throat and took a drink. "It may come as a relief to you, but I'm not certain we need to have a talk anymore."
