who: Oliver and Verity Wood
when: Tuesday, May 10th
where: St. Mungo's
what: Verity's follow-up appointment.
Placing a palm against the wooden panel before him, Oliver pushed open without grimace the heavy office door just as a gentlemen should. Five months since his accident his shoulder had healed as best as it was capable of; now was matter of strengthening and stretching, from routine workouts to pushing open heavy doors. Everything was an opportunity in disguise.
'After you,' Oliver stood aside as he held the door open for Verity, following her into the office a moment later. They had been instructed by a kindly witch in the exterior room to admit themselves where they would be made to wait, hopefully only for a few minutes by the promise of the secretary, for the Healer Verity had schedule them to meet with. Oliver wasn't sure he was ready for Verity to be pregnant again, he had only just let her back to work and even that was still panic inducing. But if Verity was ready, on this front at least, he felt the only proper thing to do was to support her. After all, it was she who would carry their child; Oliver had nine extra months to become mentally and emotionally prepared once more.
He took a chair next to Verity and opposite the Healer's large mahogany desk, behind which stood an empty chair. The office was appropriately sized, with books stacked where walls would have been, were they not completely covered in research materials. There was a single window behind the desk through which enchanted light mimicked the day's rare sunshine and several framed photographs propped upon the desktop. The subjects smiled and waved at Oliver and Verity, groups of threes and fours, parents and their precious newborns. Oliver suspected they were old patients and relaxed into his chair with affirmation of their biological success. Clearly, the Healer was experienced and successful and this was perfectly reassuring.
