Verity moved into the room and sat down in one of the chairs. She couldn't help but look around at every book title, every photo frame. Her hands were tapping on the arms of the chair, her knees bouncing a little with nervous energy. She wasn't sure why she felt so painfully nervous, but she did. What if things were wrong? What if they had to wait? What if they didn't have to wait?
She wasn't looking over at Oliver. Their relationship was strained during this whole ordeal, and being here in this office couldn't have made things easier for either of them. Verity closed her eyes and took a calming breath, then nearly jumped out of her skin as the door opened and the Healer came in. He was carrying a stack of papers, and shuffling through them while he walked.
"Ah," the Healer said. "Mr. and Mrs. Wood. It's so good to see you." He tottled around his desk and set down his papers, then reached his hand forward to shake each of theirs in turn.
