Normalcy was something Katie hadn't felt in months. Ever since she had been kidnapped and shoved in a police box, normal as she knew it had come to a screeching halt. She now lived in a constant state of private denial. Only Angelina truly knew how she felt; even Adrian, to some extent, had been kept in the dark. If he was keen on having and raising the baby, she would respect that. But respecting Adrian's wishes hadn't changed her own fears and frustrations; she'd just started hiding them better.
At least now that an official public statement had been released, she didn't feel the need to sneak about. In fact, Katie had walked into the apothecary today with her head held high, not hidden beneath a hat and sunglasses, to purchase necessary baby-potion "crap". She had no interest in truly understanding what the potions were, or why healers had suggested she purchase and take them, but at the least, when the baby was born, Katie would be able to say she'd done everything she could to give their kid a jump start.
Paying the apothecary clerk, Katie left the store with her nose practically in her bag; something she'd purchased smelt like lavender, and the scent was welcoming and cozy and so much better than the smell of bacon which, for the first time in her life, had sent her to the toilet that morning. The lavender smelt so intoxicating that Katie stopped paying attention as she exited the store; muscle memory had her turning towards the Leaky Cauldron to Floo home but with her nose in the bag, her mind elsewhere, Katie knocked rather hard right into a woman standing outside. The collision caught Katie so off guard that she dropped everything she was carrying with a loud, 'Shite, sorry!'
