Though Oliver hadn't thought anything negative at discovering the store unlocked, he played along with Daphne's cautious, quiet entrance almost subconsciously. In fact, he wasn't really paying attention to anything, just following the dim light of Daphne's wand towards the back of the shop where, he was certain, Verity could be found hunched over some desk or another filing and notating. That, or passed out and cutely drooling on some important document.
Either way, there was no possibility of her being in the storefront. The entire shop felt desolate, deserted, like life had come and gone within the walls. Even the Pygmy Puffs in their cages were oddly silent.
