Neville was very quiet at dinner. Most of what he said came out in a choked, low tone. He was too nervous to say much to her father. What if he didn't approve? What would happen if he told Hannah that he didn't like her boyfriend? He loved Hannah. The last two months of his life had been the happiest he had ever known.

When dinner was over, though, and the women went to make a bathroom stop to change Lucy and freshen up (or whatever women did in the bathroom... it was all a mystery to Neville), he was left alone with Mr. Abbott and he had to say something.

There was that burning question.

"Uh..." he froze.

While Jack was impressed by the small motion, there was still one thing that he really wasn't. "I wish you would have introduced us sooner, Hannah."

"I think we were trying to make sure things were... just right. It's been a bit unsettled as of late. Things have calmed down now, though."

"Well, keep us in the loop, dear, the best you can. You know that we care and we just want to know what's happening in your life and Lucy's." Pauline reached over and gave her stepdaughter a light touch on the arm, earning a small nod from Hannah.

"Of course."

Neville started scratching his bandages through his sleeve. The wound itched horribly while it was healing. He knew to expect it from the cursed dagger, but it still didn't make it pleasant.

Neville had remembered to go to Gringott's that afternoon for muggle money. He slipped two hundred quid notes in the little leather folio and sent it back. He was going to need Hannah's help with the tip.

	Hannah moved to help with it as soon as the change came back, but Jack waved her off. "Why don't you three go home and get Lucy into bed? You did dinner, I can do the tip." This suggestion seemed to make Hannah quite happy - and not because of the money. It was more of a tangible show of approval of Neville, rather than just saying it with words. 	"Uh, okay," he said. "It was nice meeting you, sir." Neville went to grab his coat and then remembered his manners and picked up Hannah's. He held it up so that she could slip into it. Lucy was starting to look a bit fussy and Neville figured it was best for everyone if she got to bed before she started crying in the restaurant. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Pauline only seemed amused when Neville forgot to say goodbye to her. Really, she was a stepmother, but given Neville had paid and that he was obviously nervous she chalked it up to that and just kissed Lucy's forehead and whispered something to Hannah before the three left the table. She smiled after Neville got her coat for her. She slipped into it, carefully shifting Lucy about, and then tucked Lucy's coat around her. The little girl put up a bit of fuss, but went with it as a whole.

The instant they were outside, Hannah whispered to Neville, "Thank you for letting them come - and for paying. I thought it went rather well." They just had to find a good spot to apparate home from. She could put Lucy to bed and then they could have the promised alone time.

	"I did alright?" he asked. Neville knew it was vital her family approved. She relied heavily on them and it would be bad for him if her father didn't like him. Gran would get over her distaste for the fact that Hannah was an unwed mother. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"You did." Hannah answered with a smile, her tone still somewhat hushed as they walked along. She knew that talking rather than whispering wouldn't change the fact that Lucy was starting to get tired, but she still instinctively kept it low. She knew Lucy could get a bit wound up and the mixture of tired and wound up wasn't a pleasant one.

"Hopefully, eventually, things will be rather relaxed as a whole with everyone... but in the meantime, it was a good impression and you did a good job." Even with nerves, in Hannah's opinion. Really, she was known to let her nerves get the better of her on occasion. She could understand it.

"And I really appreciated you adding them to dinner." It was a rather big deal to her that her father approved.

	Neville shoved his hands into his pockets and found the little velvet pouch from his visit to Gran's house this week. He gripped it tight as they walked. "Maybe we can sit up and talk after you get Lucy to sleep," the hand not in his pocket strayed over to clasp her own. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"Of course. I meant what I said about us being able to have a bit of time after to ourselves." She smiled and held his hand in response until they got to a safe spot to apparate from. She let go and side-along apparated Lucy back to the flat and got straight to work getting Lucy ready to turn in. The little girl put up a bit of fuss, but went along with it as a whole.

"See you there," he said. He apparated after her, finding himself in the kitchen. He followed the sound of Hannah's footsteps and found her getting Lucy ready for bed. If Hannah agreed to be his forever, then Lucy would be his, too. This was what he wanted for a family.

He leaned against the wall and watched them quietly. Neville had never thought he'd be so happy.

While Hannah often did a bedtime story for Lucy, she could tell that the little girl was fairly gone as it was. She, instead, stood by and stroked her hair until she was sure that Lucy was asleep. With the monitor on, she backed up until she was near Neville and reached to take one of his hands and slip out of the room. She, of course, wanted to keep it quiet until the door could be shut.

	Neville pulled Hannah close, not saying a word as he pressed his lips to hers. He slid a hand around her back, holding her gently as they kissed. He could be quiet, but he had been wanting to do this all night and now was his first opportunity. His heart sped up in his chest. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Hannah wrapped her arms around him in response, returning the kiss quite happily. A lot of the awkwardness that had been there early in their relationship had left for her after they had snogged for the first time. She was a lot more comfortable as a whole, especially with the idea of Neville not feeling rushed. She didn't want him to feel pressured in any way, but she did want him to feel comfortable initiating things. He, obviously, now was.

	Neville enjoyed snogging Hannah, but even more he found that he liked waking up with her pressed against him. He held her close and kissed her for a long time before pulling back and stroking her hair. "Let's go get settled somewhere, we can talk." 	Hannah nodded and moved to slip to the couch. The idea of curling up there with Neville and winding down after everything was rather appealing. Neville settled onto the couch next to her. He held onto her hands and stayed close. Neville wasn't sure how to get to where he was planning tonight, so he figured that they would talk and hopefully it would come up.

Neville hadn't been planning too much, he had been too afraid he wouldn't get past this point with her father. He just knew that the night of the full moon the impulse had struck him more than once to blurt that once-in-a-lifetime question and if tonight was half as good as that, he would find an opportunity.

	Hannah leaned against him slightly, settling down. "I hope that wasn't too awkward for you. It means a lot to me that you agreed to meet them." "And - I've been meaning to ask. "I put in my resignation before I left Friday night and Harry called me in for a meeting this morning, actually," Neville said. Harry was angry and Neville knew that Harry had a temper. He had called him mental for leaving the team just because he had a girlfriend. Neville just knew that he wanted to be a father to Lucy and that she couldn't lose two fathers to Death Eaters.

	Neville nodded. "I did it for me, but also for you and for Lucy," he said. "Because you shouldn't have to lose me." Neville really did believe that being an Auror was tempting fate. Neville tended to have a Dark Fate. His life before meeting Hannah had proved that. The longer he stuck his neck out the longer he risked losing what few blessings he had. That remark was more than enough to pull out some brutal honesty from Hannah, even if she did it in a hesitant tone. "I want you to do whatever you want so that you'll be happy, because that matters a lot to me, but I would be lying if I said a part of me didn't hope and wish for it. I don't want to lose you. I don't want Lucy to lose you -" She had to swallow to keep her emotions in check.

"I'm not sure I'd be able to take it and be there for Lucy to the right level." Tyler had meant a great deal to her, but Lucy had been an accident. They hadn't developed terribly far as a couple. Despite the option to do the "proper" thing when Hannah discovered she was pregnant, they decided to keep on as they were and let things develop. While losing him had been devastating, part of it had been mourning for what might have been - and a great deal was mourning for Lucy's loss in never knowing her father. Neville was different. Hannah's feelings for him were different. She wasn't sure what she would feel or how she would cope if she lost Neville.

"I love you," he said. "And I don't intend to go anywhere." Neville felt his heart start to pound on the walls of his chest. He knew that this was his opportunity and so he slipped his hand into his coat pocket (the coat had been left draped over the back of the couch) and pulled out the little bag. He knew he wasn't going to be very stealthy about it so he didn't try.

"I want to be there for you and Lucy forever," he said, slipping the antique ring out of the baggy. It had been his mothers', one his father had painstakingly picked out for her some time in the 70's. Neville was just pleased that Frank hadn't gone with the popular Art Deco style of the time.
