"Yes, I'm in here," Daphne responded, her voice hoarse, and Niall was being kind enough to push the curtains back enough for Dean to come through. He made sure to do it in such a way that if someone wanted to peak inside, they couldn't.
Niall gave Dean a once-over. "I'm Niall," he said blankly, "Her brother."
Mrs Greengrass, thankfully was a little warmer. "I'm Eveleyn Greengrass. It's nice to meet you, Dean. Please ignore my son. He gets cranky when he doesn't get enough sleep." Daphne usually would have laughed at a comment like that, but she could only stare at the flowers Dean was holding.
"Mother, why don't we see when they are planning to release her?" Niall asked, ignoring the comment. "We can see if we can find out about Kherrington while we're at it." Mrs Greengrass hesitated a moment, looked between Dean and Daphne, and then nodded. "I'll be back shortly," she said to Daphne, kissing her on the forehead. "I love you so very much." Evelyn stood and walked through the curtain. Niall followed her a moment later, but not before grabbing a hold of Daphne's foot through the blankets. It was the closet thing he could do to show affection to her.
And as soon as Daphne and Dean were alone, Daphne broke down into tears.
