By the time Adrian had arrived, Katie was already dressed and ready to depart. She was perched on the edge of her bed, feet dangling, proving once again just how short she really was. And after being locked in a police box for several days, she was even slighter than usual. On a body like Katie's, one could not afford to lose any weight. A few days in St. Mungo's had done her well, but she was still smaller than she should have been.
Katie lifted her eyes from her shoes when Adrian entered, offering him a welcoming smile, 'Hello, love.' She felt surprising warm towards him, despite the situation. The logical portion of her brain knew that many of his actions hadn't belonged to the man she lived with and loved; the illogical portion was hurt. But Katie was too stubborn to give into the side of her personality which was governed by emotions.
