WHO: Ginny Potter, and Harry Potter WHEN: December 2, 2004 WHERE: Diagon Alley and Muggle London RATING: PG STATUS: Complete SUMMARY: A routine shopping trip for Christmas presents goes wrong as the DE memory charm strikes again.
Through James was nearly seven weeks old, Ginny had gone to great lengths not to leave him with other people. It was nothing against anyone she knew, and it certainly wasn't a lack of volunteers to babysit, but rather that, in the back of her mind, Ginny was worried that being so little that if she left James for a long period of time that something might happen.
And there was almost the matter that after going seven weeks without a photo, photographers were clamouring to get a picture of James.
But they were destined to wait a bit longer as Ginny had flooed directly from her house into the back room of WWW to leave James with George and Audrey so they could begin babysitting.
Strolling through Diagon Alley was the easiest solution, since she had arranged to meet Harry outside of the Leaky Cauldron, and after she had triple checked that everything James needed had been in his bag she had slipped out of the store and began the short walk.
It was mostly her concern that George and Audrey would feel overwhelmed that kept Ginny from realising anyone was behind her, she was so lost in her thoughts that the only noticed she took of the fact she had been hit with a hex was the tiny prickle against the back of her neck as it connected.
But after that momentary confusion she continued on her way, absently scratching at the back of her neck as she passed through the brick entrance at the back of the Leaky and through the pub to the muggle street beyond. The difference was that Ginny didn't stop to greet Harry, in fact she didn't even look at him as she prepared to cross the street and that was because she no longer had any idea who Harry Potter was.
