While Penny formulated her answer, Percy didn't feel too much like eating any more, and so took sips of wine in silence, trying to gauge how Penny would finally react by the expression on her face. The woman should play poker, she kept her emotions so well hidden. When she finally did respond, Percy replied with equal amounts of sarcasm and bitterness.
"Oh, but they do! All the time! It was all my fault that Ron got upset at his party. I was the one who apologized. It took me a week of pulling strings at the office to get Top Box tickets for the Chudley Cannons opening game for him as a peace offering. But nobody expects Ron to apologize for his temper. I thought I had dealt with the situation as diplomatically as possible, under the circumstances, and if he only acted in a civil manner, the whole event could've been avoided. No! It's always Percy, the Black Sheep of the Family, the Outsider."
If it hadn't been for Penny's previous comment that there wouldn't be any storming out tonight, Percy would've done just that - how easy it would be to just leave, like he had left his family so many years ago, and avoided any sort of confrontation. Instead, Percy folded his arms across his chest, indignantly. He would leave only if Penny told him to scram.
