who Oliver Wood, Verity Ashford when: 9 November, evening where: Wood Estate, Verity's apartment what: Oliver pays a visit to his fiance, who lives upstairs.
It was only two flights of stairs which separated Oliver Wood from his fiance, Verity Ashford. But when one was only halfway through three months until one's wedding, two flights of stairs felt like an agonizingly long distance.
Oliver and Verity hadn't slept together since Verity's birthday, their botched engagement night. And even then, having "slept together" meant drooling on one another's pillows and stealing the covers in the morning. The two hadn't been intimate, physically in any case, since before Oliver's Quidditch accident. What had started as a set back in their relationship had now turned into a challenge; could Oliver and Verity actually earn the traditional rights of their wedding night?
It wasn't easy by any stretch of the imagination, particularly now that their relationship was completely patched. Late at night was especially difficult, when Oliver would lie awake thinking of the alluring woman sleeping in his bed two stories up. How easy it would be to slip through the dark house and between her sheets.
Tonight though, he promised himself to behave, because she was worth the effort.
She also deserved a visit, a rose from the garden and a bottle of wine. Which is how Oliver found himself knocking on her apartment door at twenty to eleven in the evening, far later than he usually would have visited her for obvious reasons of temptation.
