Who: Astoria, Narcissa, Draco
What: Narcissa isn't oblivious and decides enough is enough
When: Monday October 25, mid-afternoon
Where: Malfoy Manor
Astoria was less than looking forward to this visit with Narcissa Malfoy. While she had usually enjoyed her visits to the ailing woman, this trip meant she ran the risk of seeing Draco. It was something she had absolutely no desire to do. Still, the fact Narcissa had sent her an owl telling her to pick the sweater up rather than owling her the sweater itself told Astoria that there was a desire for company there. She could only hope that it meant Draco was perhaps out of town on business or holed up in his room. Whatever method it was didn't matter - the only part that mattered was the part where she didn't have to see him.
She really had been fine stepping aside and letting him be with Pansy - his girlfriend - when push came to shove. It had made her feel a bit sad, a bit hurt, but she had been okay with the idea. The owl, then the cut off of contact followed by the insulting response to her sister's owl, had stuck a knife back into the wound for her and made everything feel worse than before. Kherrie's comments for the past day or so, angling it that perhaps Astoria had been to fault for even confronting him over the matter, hadn't helped either.
The simple fact was that she had lost contact with most of the friends she had in her own year at school. Draco had been a friend to her when she came back from Bulgaria. Kherrie had been friendly toward her, but the fact was that she was more Daphne's friend than Astoria's. Astoria had lost a big part of her social life and then had been insulted again and again. Worst of all, she felt immense guilt over how big of a deal it had become. Daphne had broken up with her fiancee and Astoria was the one sulking. It was ridiculous. Even Daphne's statement that it was fine since it was distracting her didn't really help. Her sister meant a lot to her. She didn't want to be a pain to Daphne and she didn't want to detract from what Daphne had gone through. Astoria just wanted it all to be over with and move on.
But for now, she just had to suck it up and hope Draco would be smart enough to steer clear. She popped over to the Malfoy Manor to see Narcissa and get the sweater that had been left behind.
