Who: Kenneth and Verity
Where: Leaky Cauldron
When: Early Saturday Evening
What: Random encounter
Kenneth wasn't sure if he was in a social mood or ready to crawl under the covers, so after making sure the shop was closed up for the day he decided to make a brief stop into the Leaky Cauldron. As he figured it, if he didn't see anyone he knew or liked, he could have a quiet drink and then promptly head back to his cottage to turn in for the night. He hadn't worked most of the day. A shop girl he had hired a few weeks ago had been able to take her first day operating on her own. While Kenneth had popped in from the back office few times to check on things and make sure there weren't issues, he hadn't really needed to do much. He only had to step in when an older gentleman had come in and expressed an interest in selling a couple charmed clocks and a collection of pocket watches.
He had talked the man down to a rather reasonable price and it seemed likely he would be able to resell the clocks and watches for a profit. He hadn't found any traces of harmful charms or curses, but he still wasn't quite sure he was ready to put them out as for sale in the shop. A good cleaning charm or six seemed appropriate first. Kenneth went up to the bar and silently waited for the bartender, pulling a pocket watch out as he waited and inspecting it for what seemed like the tenth time. It, in particular, had caught his eye. He didn't really need it, but he wasn't sure he wanted to sell it. What was the harm in having yet another watch?
Still, as he stared at it, he found himself wondering if the time was right on it. Profit wasn't going to be the case if it didn't work. He found himself turning to the person next to him. "Do you happen to have the time on you?"
