Daphne didn't leave the office until well past eight. She didn't have a lot to do that day, as it was her second day back and not her first, but she had taken time getting things done and she had taken an extended lunch break, just because she felt so restless sitting behind her desk. Her extremely poor mood didn't help things, either, and she had to stop herself from snapping at Luxe employees on more than on occasion. Despite how she was feeling, Daphne still managed to look impeccable, dressed in a yellow silk shirt and a black pencil skirt with black heels on her feet. If one thing could be said about Daphne, it was that she always liked to look her best.
She had never intended to give Miles his gift in person. She had wanted to simply owl it over. Why she had said she would bring it to him, she didn't know. Perhaps she was feeling masochistic? There was no doubt that her self-esteem had taken a hit with the breakup with the Weasley. Whatever the reason was, Daphne found herself knocking on his front door at 8:30, his Statue of Libery lighter in her briefcase. Her chest filled with dread as her knuckles hit the wood, and there was a part of her that wanted to drop the gift on the doorstep and run.
Daphne still had feelings for him, and the last thing she wanted to be dealing with were feelings she had been trying to repress, especially when she was in such a vulnerable state. But she would try her damnedst.
