Was it possible? Had she really heard the l-word come out of his mouth? No. Surely, she must have been hearing things. Slowly, she opened one eye, not that she could see much through her hands covering her face. And while that word sent goosebumps racing down her bare legs, she couldn't help but wonder how he meant it. Did he love her like all the others and then just felt left wanting a little more? Honestly, she didn't want to know for sure. Just the fact that he'd brought up the l-word was enough to send her head spinning.
She couldn't sit up, not even if she wanted to. Years of doing crunches with her mum could do nothing to get her to pull herself up to look at him properly. "I want to kiss you too." It sounded awkward and childish and a little muffled considering she was saying it from behind her hands. But then she removed the part of her hands covering her mouth and spoke of more serious issues. "I think we can both agree that no matter what happens, in the end, we'll both do what is necessary to keep the band alive and well."
