WHO: Neville, Cecily Winchester, Patrons at the Leaky WHAT: Chase scene! WHERE: The Leaky Cauldron WHEN: Friday around 5p WHAT: Winchester tries to pull something but Neville recognizes her RATING: [T] for Violence.
Neville had been visiting the Leaky Cauldron a lot lately. He had two nights a week completely open and he enjoyed talking to Hannah and playing with Lizzie when she was around. He also didn't like to cook alone in his flat so really it was the perfect solution.
Friday afternoon after getting out of work at the Ministry, Neville had popped by for an early dinner. He was sitting at the bar munching on a plate of chicken strips and chips when he heard the back door from the Alley open. Neville glanced over, expecting to see another middle-aged witch and her children and instead spotted the face of a thin, fair, witch with strawberry blonde hair and icy blue eyes. He knew that face. She had a hood up and was turning up towards the stairs to the inn above when Neville realized who she was.
"Winchester," he sputtered before jumping from the bar stool. He had his wand and was running towards the stairs in an instant, knocking over the stool he had been on and a few others nearby. Winchester had been on her way up the stairs and Neville wasn't going to wait to find out if she had managed to rent a room in disguise or if she was planning to finish off Hannah's family. He was at her heals and the sudden commotion alerted her that she was being pursued.
Ms. Winchester grabbed a suit of armor standing in the landing and pulled it down behind her. There was a horrible clatter and Neville barely managed to block the heap of metal with his wand. She aimed her wand behind her and disarmed Neville, but he wasn't about to stop to hunt for his wand.
Neville leaped over the remains of the armor that was rolling down the stairs and continued after her, grabbing at her cloak. She slipped out of the cloak and blasted through a window with her wand, making her way out onto the fire escape. Neville followed, but he wasn't as small and he sliced his shoulder on the broken glass. Winchester was running along the fire escape and Neville didn't have time to stop and assess the damage. He was either feeling brave or stupid. All he knew was that she was already below him on the next level and she was going to get away. He grabbed the railing and jumped over the side, his grip causing him to swing down and under the fire escape. With his heels aimed in to the next level he let go of the rail and barely landed on his feet. His momentum chucked his shoulder into the wall, but a few bruises weren't important. He had landed right in front of Winchester.
She aimed her wand again to curse him, likely to cast an unforgivable. Neville did a breaking block, sweeping her wand arm off target moments before a flash of green came from the tip of it. He turned his palm up and brought his other hand down, clapping her wrist and catching it before he slammed her hand into the wall and caused her to drop the wand. She tried to kick him, but now that the wand was dropped it was a fight that could only go in Neville's favour. Neville heard the sound of apparating below him. Someone had alerted the Aurors.
When Harry got there, Neville had Winchester bound by her own wand and sitting on the ground in in the alley between the Leaky and Diagon Alley. His shirt was covered in blood. Harry took over the arrest and told Neville to go get his shoulder checked out. He walked back through the Leaky Cauldron. All of the customers had been cleared out, only leaving staff.
