2. I can't picture you with him, his future looks awful dim.
"Tezuka."
Tezuka wasn't surprised to see Fuji already by his desk when class let out. How Fuji always managed to get out of class early enough to get to Tezuka's class before the bell rang would remain forever a mystery, as far as Tezuka was concerned. If he didn't know, after all, he wouldn't have to lie about it later. "Fuji."
"We should eat outside today." Fuji said.
Tezuka looked at him and raised an eyebrow, barely perceptible but enough for Fuji to know that he was very, very curious about this sudden change in their schedule.
"It's almost Valentines Day, Tezuka." Fuji explained. "We won't be able to later, so we need to eat outside now."
It made no sense whatsoever; they wouldn't have eaten outside during Valentines most likely. Despite appearances, Fuji did, indeed, need to study and he preferred doing so at lunch, since Seigaku's lunch was ridiculously long, over studying alone at home and since Fuji was Tezuka's best friend (as far as he was concerned, at least—Tezuka had never really thought about it and he was closer to Fuji than to his other friends so it stood that they were best friends), Tezuka studied with him in the library. Eating outside, especially with a major math test after lunch for both of them, seemed silly. Still, when Fuji got an idea in his mind, it was best to just go along the first time he pushed for it because he wouldn't stop and, in the end, it would be a huge waste of both of their time. Point in case, the marshmallows incident, which was never to be mentioned, especially not within earshot of Tezuka.
So, Tezuka did the only thing any rational person could do in that situation, short of running away screaming, and picked up his lunch and followed Fuji out to the benches outside of the school. Fuji sat down next to him and opened his own lunch, picked through it, ate a little, and put it aside. Tezuka never did understand Fuji's eating habits; from what Oishi told him, Eiji said that Fuji ate almost nonstop; from what he had overheard from Kawamura, Fuji ate a perfectly normal amount; Tezuka himself never saw Fuji eat more than a few bites at a time.
As they ate (or rather, as Tezuka ate; Fuji put his lunch aside after finishing off the cookies his sister had packed for him), Fuji watched the people passing by. Tezuka didn't really expect Fuji to speak because they really didn't talk much outside of studying; Fuji already knew what Tezuka would say anyways ('Ah' 'Don't let your guard down' or 'Twenty laps NOW!') and Tezuka really didn't even want to think about what Fuji would dare say, so it was just as well, but apparently Fuji decided that day to break their semi-official agreement to just accompany each other in silence, because he asked, with an innocent air that shouldn't have been possible, "So, Captain. What's your type?"
Tezuka twitched and deigned to ignore that.
So, naturally, Fuji decided that his question had been too broad and that he had put Tezuka on the spot. So he asked, "Do you like really buxom girls?"
Alright, so Fuji didn't really expect an answer to that. He just wanted to see Tezuka twitch a little more (which he did, of course), but apparently Tezuka operated under the theory that if you answered them once, they'd leave you alone. So he actually did answer, much to Fuji's surprise, and said, "No."
So Fuji took the opportunity to ask a second question: "You prefer girls that don't wear much makeup, right?"
That, at least, was a very obvious question and so Tezuka managed to answer without twitching. "Yes."
Which upset Fuji a bit, because he really kind of just wanted to see Tezuka twitch. "Skinny girls?"
Tezuka frowned and Fuji sighed dramatically. "Fit girls?"
"Yes."
"Tanned?"
"Does it matter?"
"You want them to be able to play tennis, of course."
"..."
"Do they have to be pretty, Captain?"
"No."
"But you'd rather have a pretty girlfriend, right?"
"..."
"Tezuka?"
"Yes."
"You shouldn't be so shallow, Tezuka."
"Fuji." Tezuka rubbed his temple. This wasn't going to get anywhere.
"Hmm?" Fuji, who had been ticking off his questions on his fingers, looked up and at that moment, Tezuka kissed him.
Which was nice, because he'd always wanted Tezuka to kiss him, but also kind of awkward, because Fuji had promised a total of seventeen girls to ask Tezuka about his preference in girls and Fuji might have been beyond talented at just about everything, but there are few things worse than the wrath of a fangirl scorned.
But since it was Tezuka's fault, Fuji supposed he could always just hide behind Tezuka for the next few months or so.
