Suikoden V (Zegai/Shoon) [week 3, prompt 4]
Title: Storyteller
Author: Laylah
Rating: reasonably worksafe? m/m cuddles.
Word Count: 200
Summary: "What about this one?" Shoon says, spreading his hand across the scar.
"What about this one?" Shoon says, spreading his hand across the scar on Zegai's left side, just below where his ribs end.
"You never get tired, do you?" Zegai says, but his hand doesn't move from the small of Shoon's back, and he doesn't try to dislodge Shoon from leaning on his shoulder. "Gray ulse. Teeth, not claws."
Shoon pets the scar, slowly, and tries to imagine it: he's seen a gray ulse once or twice, from a distance, before things got bad for his family and he had to come to the arena. They're huge monsters, twice his height, claws like daggers and teeth nearly as bad. He pictures Zegai facing off against it with his spear, bets Zegai didn't even flinch when he got attacked. "You're kind of a lousy storyteller, you know?"
Zegai snorts. "You shouldn't be here, if you're still young enough to need bedtime stories."
"That's not what I meant," Shoon protests, and tries to pull back -- but Zegai catches him, pulls him close again and puts his hands back on the map of battle scars.
"Hush," Zegai says, and kisses him so he has to, and Shoon thinks maybe the quiet's not so bad.
