She'd been by the house--that much Matt was sure of. If there was one scent he knew better than any other, it was Alice's. Why she'd been there, on February 14th of all days bothered him. There was always the possibility that Jasper had left her, but he was almost sure that wasn't the case, so why had she been there?

Matt knew well enough why she hadn't actually knocked on the door. It was the same reason he hesitated before walking away whenever he caught her scent on the streets. He was really starting to fall for Belle, but Alice would always catch his attention, tragic as it was.

Ten days had gone by and he'd tried to convince himself to contact Alice, but he still hadn't. Sitting at the bar, drink in his hand, the vampire listened to the mindless chatter of everyone around him. He wasn't usually a drinker, but everything seemed a lot less complicated at the bar.

He hated it there. He wasn’t sure when it happened but Alex completely disliked his current living situation and how everything wasn’t clicking together the way it was supposed to. He didn’t have the luxury of being around the people he knew and because of that he felt alone. He had too much pride to find Matt and didn’t care to make friends with anyone else since he didn’t like anyone else. It all felt like it was thrown into shambles and Alex didn’t know what to make of it.

Alex didn’t know that Matt was at the bar or else he wouldn’t have gone. By the time he arrived Matt was already at the front counter drinking whatever drink he had and it wasn’t like Alex was going to turn around and walk away because of Matt. He toughened up, straightened the constant grim look he had on his face and walked up to the bar so he could order a drink.
