RP: Sparkle sparkle little snowflake
Who: Jasper, open
Where: in a snowdrift at the PBAS
When: Early afternoon, February 13
Rating/Warning: No idea
Summary: Jasper chills, ha-ha, because he has nothing better to do
Status: Open, ongoing

Jasper was sprawled on one of the snow drifts, a grin on his lips. There were people in the field, not so very far away. They were taking measurements, talking, laughing, bitching about the snow and the cold, and it amused him.

Especially when they shot him glances and lowered their voices ... he could still hear them.

He'd noticed a few more people had vanished - including Bella. Which suited him just fine; all she was going to do here was mope about Edward, then trip and cut herself on a pillow. He shook his head slightly, disrupting the snow that had gathered in his hair.

He should go find Alice, he knew. He'd seen her only a few times since her return. It wasn't that he was avoiding her, exactly ... he was still just sorting his thoughts out and trying to decide if it was worth trying to give up humans again. He'd redeveloped a taste for them, but ... yes, there was the matter of the feeling their pain. Sometimes it wasn't worth it. Sometimes it was though.

Decisions, decisions.

Adjusting her sunglasses, she looked over the brim at the pale stranger who was laying on the snow. "Aren't you cold?" the redhead asked, fixing those sunglasses again to stop the glare of the sun reflecting on the snow.

It was strange how she kept meeting strange new people here--or demons, that she of course killed on the spot in most cases--but Scarlett was kind of starting to like it. She'd never really been all that social, but Ipswich was a different world than Mars, and she was adapting. She'd realized that she needed some of these people as allies in order to survive, and maybe over time they'd even become friends. Maybe.

"There's this rumor going around that snow is actually frozen water," she teased.

Jasper glanced over to the Bella look-alike who smelled nothing like Bella, and he grinned. If she were a little more clumsy, she could probably seriously fuck with some people.

"No shit," he replied with a quiet laugh.

Rolling up his sleeve, he waved his arm around to try to catch one of the errant rays of sunlight ... which was just shy of impossible when it was overcast and snowing.

"Well, I'm one of the vampires. The sparkly ones," he continued, a grin on his lips and a spark in his red eyes. "The cold doesn't bother me."

"Sparkly vampire," she commented, thinking about that for a moment. It still didn't make any sense whatsoever to her. "Right, so you must know Alice?" Scar asked.

Alice had been nice enough--guy issues aside--but she wasn't sure she could trust whoever this was, even if he was a friend of Alice's. For one, his red eyes scared her. She hid the fear pretty well behind a confident smile though.

"Know her better than most people ever will," Jasper admitted. He wondered when the pair of them had met, but it wasn't exactly like he was keeping tabs on Alice.

For all he knew, they'd met in Hell, though that didn't seem overly likely.

"We were married ... several years ago," he added, a smug sort of grin pulling at his lips. "How'd you meet her?" Alice though ... was more social than most people he knew.

"Married?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. "As in past tense." Scarlett studied him for a moment in silence, then asked, "So you're the one that showed up a little after she ran into her ex?"

Scar paused, realizing that probably wasn't the best way to say that, and shook her head before starting again, "Sorry. I...am not used to being this social. Let me rephrase--so you're the love of her life?"

Pale brows elevated slightly. "Married, present tense. The ceremony was in the past." He was moderately amused that her thoughts had headed that direction.

Not exactly thrilled at the reminder of his discovery upon arrival, Jasper nodded his head. "I would be the love of her life, yes."

While he was curious how that had even come up, Jasper studied her for a moment. "So the two of you have chatted?"

"We have," Scarlett told him. "Again, I'm sorry. I come from a place where words aren't an issue. Can't really talk much when you're fighting." She paused, realized what she'd said, then added, "I guess as a vampire you can relate?"

For some reason, she wasn't afraid of this guy. It wasn't just that he recognized her the way Alice had, but Alice had described him as a kind man with a troubled past. Scarlett wasn't afraid of him. Maybe that was a mistake.

That was amusing. Words weren't an issue. Jasper refrained from making a crack about body language ... and he wondered if that would have made sense to her or not.

He shrugged. "As a vampire, or as a soldier?" he countered. "Not all the vampires are fighters. I ... started out as a solider, and after I was turned, I trained newborns. I destroyed them when they lost their usefulness," he added.

That, though, was a long time ago. He wasn't trying to impress her with the words, either ... he was simply making a statement.

"A soldier?" she asked, a little surprised by that--though now that she thought about it, it actually made sense. He carried himself like a soldier.

"Which war, if you don't mind my asking?" Scar asked him, curious because vampires were supposedly immortal, right? That meant he could have taken part in any or all of the wars, and while she'd never paid attention to history all that much, she did enjoy learning about ancient weapons. Maybe this vampire would have a thing or two to tell her about how weapons had worked back then.

"Civil," he replied. "Never really understood calling a war civil when there's nothing civil about it," he said thoughtfully before he grinned. "Would you know the difference? Or did you spend your free time here researching our wars?"

Not that it mattered to him either way; he was just curious. For all he knew she'd dived into war encyclopedias and memorized them. Or maybe they'd had knowledge of Earth wars wherever she was from.
