RP: Hoping
Who: Libra, Albus
Where: PBAS

Rating/Warning: None
Summary: Libra hopes her father will show up since Lily's did
Status: Complete

Not only had Lily's father shown up, but Lily's father's girlfriend had shown up. Lily had her grandparents, and Libra had ... no one. It was almost enough to make her want her mother to arrive.

Almost.

Dressing in snowpants over her jeans, boots on her feet, and several layers, Libra headed outside. She'd seen and heard about some of the people who'd gone down to Hell, and Vulture had promised her that the field was safe - the cracks were all sealed up.

So she wasn't too worried when she made the walk from the house to the field. She wasn't really sure what she was doing out here, save that she sort of thought maybe if she stood out there and wished for her father to arrive ... he would.

It was stupid, and she knew it was stupid, but she did it anyway.

After a bit, she gave up staring at the barn and wishing. Slipping her wand out of her sleeve, she started to practice some spells just for something to do.

Albus glanced around, confused. He had no idea how he'd gotten here or where here even was. Luckily, he had his wand and apparently he also had a very Muggle looking contraption. Well, he'd mess with that later. For now, he slid it into the pocket of his robes and tried to work this out.

He thought this might be a very elaborate trick on him, somehow, but still, he withdrew his wand just in case. If it turned out to be a joke, Jamie was in for a hex anyway.

Leaving the barn, emerald eyes swept across the field and settled on a familiar girl. Furrowing his brow in confusion, unsure whether Libra being here made this situation stranger or more comforting, he cocked his head to the side.

He called her name to get her attention before starting to close the distance between them, a bemused half smile on his lips.

It wasn't her father. Or her brother. But it was kind of the next best thing. It also made her wonder if the entire Potter family was going to show up.

"Don't suppose you brought my brother with you?" she offered as she slipped her hands out of her pockets, starting toward him. She hugged him, not feeling too awkward about it; her brother was his best friend, after all, and she'd spent winter break at their flat.

She supposed he'd want an explanation, but she thought to wait until he'd settled on the order of priority of his questions. Different people wanted to know different things right off, after all.

"Not that I'm aware of," he replied apologetically even though he didn't understand the situation. He hugged her back and also didn't feel too awkward about it since she had initiated it.

"Where is here, exactly, and how did we get here?" After asking, he wondered if she even knew. Maybe she had just arrived as well, but for some reason that didn't feel like the case.

Since Libra was here, it suddenly seemed less likely that his brother was behind this. He couldn't imagine James including Libra in a prank of this magnitude ... well, no he could imagine it, but there were plenty of people Al thought his brother would include before the younger Malfoy.

"We're in the States. The current theory is that someone ruptured a hole in reality. There're a lot of people here that don't belong. Your sister. Your dad and Fell. Your grandparents on your father's side and Sirius and Remus." Others, too, but there was no need to overwhelm him.

"Your sister just came back from hell," she shared. So it wouldn't be a shock when Al saw her. "She's fine. Severus is in a coma though," she finished. "She's been here a while, too," Libra continued before she cocked her head. "You can come to the houses and we can let people know you're here."

Well. So much for not overwhelming him, she realized. The bit about Lily in hell probably could have waited.

At some point, Albus' mouth had dropped open as he tried to process her words and find an appropriate response. The States? A hole in reality? Lily had been in hell? But his sister was okay now, and dad was here so he would be taking care of her.

He blew out a sigh and shook his head, unable to really process it all.

"I ... don't even know how to make this make sense," he decided with a shake of his head. "But Lily's okay and you're okay?" He supposed going to a house and letting people know he was there seemed like as good a plan as any.

"I don't think there is a way to make it make sense," Libra admitted as she started walking toward the road. "I guess this has been going on for a couple of months, here." Her shoulders rose and fell in a shrug.

"There are people who live here who had magic already. Different from ours though. That's kind of how the hole happened." Or so she'd heard.

Once she'd made it onto the road, she slipped her Blackberry out to send a text to Rory. "Our house is full, I think, unless you share a room with someone." Though ... she had to wonder a little if Aaron was still around. Maybe his room was free. "But there are other houses."

Well, as long as it also didn't make any sense to Libra, right now, he wasn't going to think too hard on it. He sort of felt like he might go crazy if he did and he couldn't freak out about it right now, not in front of Libra. He felt like he needed to be the wise, strong protector type, even though she knew more about the situation than he did.

Falling into step with her, he followed her lead since he had no idea where they were going and watched curiously as she pulled out and did something on the ... Muggle thing.

"There's something pretty funny about seeing you use one of those," he commented with a grin, more amused than he should have been. It felt like one of those situations that was so out of the realm of normal that you had to laugh. "Who's in your house with you?"

She grinned. "You kind of have to get used to it. You have one. In your pocket, or ... on the ground and you missed it. And a credit card. But it only has a thousand dollars on it. That's American Muggle currency. It really isn't very much, but we don't have to pay rent, at least."

Licking her lips, she shrugged. "We've got to get jobs, eventually. Your gran's working in a library, and Lily was looking at coffee shops." She didn't know what she was going to do yet.

She smiled slightly. "Vulture's in the house with me, and three other people you wouldn't know. Scarlett, she's one of the guardians, and Leah, she's sort of like an animagus, but not exactly? And there was a guy named Aaron, but I haven't seen him around lately." She smiled. "Sometimes people ... vanish. No one really knows why. Or where they go. We assume they went back home, but..." she shrugged again as she crossed onto a wooded path.

"Yeah, I found it," he confirmed, referring to the device. He patted a hand against his pocket just to make sure it was still there. Suddenly he wondered where the hell it came from, but he pushed that aside so he could deal with it at a later time.

Nodding when she listed people off who were in the house with her, he was glad there was at least an Auror with her. Al thought he should be there to look out for her if she didn't have any family around, but her house was full.

"Do you have your own room at least?" He asked, mostly teasing. Still, it was easier to concern himself with how she was adjusting than trying to wrap his mind around this.

"I do have my own room," she assured him with a slight smile. "No roommates, so it's better than school. Still have the same concept of a common area though."

Ducking under a branch, she continued to walk along, glancing back every now and again to make sure Al was still following. "It's so weird that you and your dad showed up at ... well, nearly the same time. Fell too. I guess James will be showing up," she added with a faint smile.

But maybe if he did ... if the Potter family was complete, her family would start showing up.

"I wondered if he was behind this. James, I mean," he clarified in case his train of thought hadn't been clear. He kept pace with her easily enough, but he did keep glancing around, studying the scenery.

"Though really, he's not even this good," Albus replied, a little grin on his lips despite the situation. Once again his thoughts started to drift to places that made absolutely no sense and he shook his head to clear it.

"Maybe your brother will show up too," he offered hopefully. If so many members of his family were showing up, surely more of the Malfoys would.

"I don't even know what I thought when I first showed up," she admitted softly. "I'm just glad I wasn't the first one to show up. I wouldn't have known what to do." Not that she'd really known when she'd arrived, but she'd at least had something of an idea.

"A lot of the people are nice though," she continued. "But ... most people don't know that they shouldn't be nice to people with my last name," she added, a faint smile tugging her lips. "I guess ... that's kind of nice. That no one cares. And the people here that do know it already don't care. Like ... your family, and Vulture."

Upon reaching the house, she shouldered the door open and gestured Al to follow her inside.

"Well, I'm glad you were there when I showed up," he informed her with a smile and a little shrug. He was sure he would have figured out how to use the blackberry eventually, but it was much nicer and more comforting to have things explained by a familiar face; even a familiar face that was his best mate's little sister.

Glancing up at the house as they approached, he thought it at least looked like a nice place. Following her inside, he glanced around curiously, "Good," he agreed, glad that at least she hadn't had to deal with any crap about her family while she'd been here.

"Do people know we're wizards?" He asked curiously, recalling that she mentioned some folks here had magic.

"Yes," Libra admitted as she slipped off her boots before shrugging off her jacket. "There was kind of a ... bit of information swap. There are a lot of different people here. Types of people, I mean. Different sorts of magic and even people from different planets."

That still baffled her, but she tried not to think too much about it.

Gesturing for him to make himself comfortable, she started for the kitchen to make some tea. He could probably use it.

"So what year are you from? I'm from 2026, Vulture's from 2025, and the others, you know, the ones that died, are from their proper times. Not ours."

"Different planets?" He asked, sounding baffled. He was pretty curious about the different sorts of magic; that sounded really interesting. Different planets sounded ... strange. "Do they look like us or are they... I don't know, green?"

He grinned, knowing the question was dumb, but what were the odds really that someone from a different planet would look just like humans?

"I'm from 2025," he answered slowly, furrowing his brow. "So you're... from the future. Well, my future." Just when he thought it couldn't get any weirder, look at that, it totally did.

Libra nodded. "She says she used to be blue and a lot taller, but ... she changed when she came through. I guess ... her actual body wouldn't have survived here. Different atmosphere. Humans couldn't survive on her planet, so it makes sense," she continued.

"Just a bit," she agreed to his 'future' point. "I ... I finally made up with my mom. After she officially ... disowned Narcissa. My parents moved to France, so I spent breaks with you and Scorpius." She paused. "Not much else really changed. You two are still good friends and working and the like."

He sat down belatedly, making himself comfortable -- as comfortable as he could get in such a weird situation, at least. He kicked off his shoes, shifting a little to face her. "I wonder what sort of magic could know to change her body to suit our planet," he mused, not really expecting her to have an answer.

Listening to her describe what was going on from when she was from, he smiled, "I'm glad to hear that. When is Lily ... my sister, I mean ... when is she from, do you know?"

It must be weirder for the folks way from the past, but it was still bizarre for him to think about Libra being from a time that hadn't happened for him.

"Closer to my time, I think. She's just out of school. Noah's here, too, so she hasn't been alone. I mean, not that ... she'd be alone, but you know what I mean," Libra said, even as she wasn't precisely sure what she meant.

"No one knows what kind of magic it is, exactly, but they at least know how it happened. The ... one of the native to here witches breaking out of hell tore up reality, somehow."

Setting the tea things on a tray, Libra carried it out and set it on the coffee table. "They're working on ways to get us back. The ... government's supposed to be doing things out there, now, but ..." she shrugged.

"I don't think they'll figure it out."

"Well, good," he murmured, glad that Lily hadn't been stuck here by herself. It was just so weird to think that any of them were here at all, and he wondered if they went missing back home. He didn't think he would know, since they were from a time he hadn't experienced yet.

"Maybe my dad will figure it out," he suggested hopefully, thanking her for the tea and then fixing himself a cup. His father had done all sorts of things in his life, surely figuring out how to get them home from some strange reality wasn't outside of his abilities.

"At least the houses seem nice?" He offered with a little smile, shrugging his shoulders as he tried to make the best of it.

"Maybe," Libra offered, though she'd been here too long to believe that. If the people already working on it hadn't figured it out by now ... she didn't think that his dad, brilliant though he might be, would be the one to crack the case. But she didn't want to shoot him down, either.

"They're nice enough," she agreed. "If you can put up with your house mates." A wry smile pulled at her lips before she shrugged. "But all things considered, it's nice for them to give us a place to stay." Libra hesitated. "If you wanted ... I mean, this one's full, but you could stay in my room for a little while, if you wanted. Until you decided on a house of your own."

Maybe he'd want to stay with his dad or with his sister.

Albus considered for a moment, but if Lily had Noah and his dad had Fell, he didn't really want to impose on any of them. Though he imagined he could have gotten his own room in one of their houses.

"Yeah, I'd like that," he agreed before he grinned, "if you can put up with me."

He did wonder what Scorpius would think if he showed up, but Al was just trying to look after her, of course. So surely Score would be pleased.

"Oh. No, you're right. I didn't take into consideration that I'd have to put up with you ..." Libra shook her head slightly.

"Though I suppose I could manage it for a few days," she decided. She gestured slightly. "When you're done with your tea, I can ... show you my room. You can probably borrow some of Vulture's clothes until you can get more of your own," she continued thoughtfully.

"And I'm sure your dad and Lily will want to see you," she added as an afterthought.

The idea of wearing Vulture's cloths was probably more amusing than it should have been. Everything was sort of amusing, actually, and he was pretty sure that was just because nothing was really sinking in yet.

"You can show me now," he decided, taking a last sip of his tea before setting it back onto the tray.

He pushed up to his feet, glancing around once more before he nodded, "Yeah, maybe. If they have the time," he agreed teasingly.

"Sure," she agreed. Setting her cup down as well, she rose and headed for the stairs. A grin tugged at her lips at his teasing before she shook her head. "If they have time," she agreed. "I mean, your sister has been pretty busy lately ..."

Libra arched her brows before she laughed quietly. Heading up the stairs, she passed the other rooms until she reached hers. Pushing the door open, she gestured around. "Ta-da."

It wasn't much, but it was tidy.

"I don't really want to think about my sister being busy," he replied teasingly as he followed her upstairs. It was still sort of weird, thinking about his younger sister having a serious relationship, but really he was happy for her.

Once they were in her room, he glanced around appreciatively and grinned, "Impressive," he murmured as he stepped further inside.

Libra snorted slightly at his reaction. She had bathrooms at the Manor that were bigger than this. But ... for a free room in a Muggle house, it really wasn't so bad.

"So I suppose it wouldn't win me any points to go on and share that she's busy more often than not, yeah?" Libra grinned slightly before she shrugged, leaning against a wall. "Suppose if I had a boyfriend, I'd be happy if he showed up here." Though she wasn't quite sure she'd be ... busy with him so often. All things considered.

He arched a brow at her, attempting to look solemn before he grinned, "No, no points at all," he confirmed as he moved further into the room and sat on the edge of the bed.

"But I'm glad she hasn't been here alone, even if she's doing things that are mentally disturbing and gross to me," he blew out a sigh, trying to get his thoughts in order.

"I think ... I want a shower," he decided, thinking that might give him some time to organize his thoughts and let some of this sink in. "They do have showers here, right?" He asked, mostly teasing.

"Across the hall," Libra said with a gesture. "There's a half bath downstairs. I didn't even know what one of those was until I came here. It's missing a tub. I suppose that's why it's only a half."

Libra smirked a little. "Well, with half your family here now ... she'll be even less alone. Besides, there's nothing gross about snogging," she teased. She wasn't really getting into the shagging bit; she was still remarkably skittish in that regard.

His lips twitched into a little grin as she spoke about not knowing what a half bath was. Of course the Malfoys would only have full bathrooms. No halfblood bathtubs for them.

"It's gross when it's your little sister doing it," he retorted as he pushed up to his feet. "Are you gonna be in here when I'm done?" He asked, wanting to know where to find her when he finished with his shower.

With that said, she slipped out her blackberry to start on the messages she'd said she'd deliver.
