Summary: Tory bit off more than he could chew
Status: Closed, completed

So he'd discovered that even he had limits.

He'd taken on a rather nasty looking dog, all fire and brimstone in it's eyes and razor sharp teeth and soot-blackened fur. He'd taken it on with one of his stronger blades, anticipating a fight - but anticipating that he'd win with a few cuts and bruises to show for it.

...

Well, maybe he'd anticipated incorrectly. He certainly did have a few cuts and bruises. But the dog had walked away with minimal injuries, and he had fled with a sizable bite on his back leg that was throbbing with a dull sort of pain that radiated through his leg (that made him think that the dog had had a venomous bite) and he couldn't get it to stop bleeding.

Stopping at the side of the road where there was a small tree, he sat, leaning against it and bleeding into the snow, ripping of a thick strip of fabric from his torn pants to apply pressure to the wound.

He closed his eyes, hissing slightly at the pain and waiting for it to fade. He could really use a smoke right about now.

Drusilla had been wandering. Roaming. Peering toward the sky and watching some of the demons frolicking. Her attention was caught by the scent of blood, and a slightly less spacey smile played over her lips. "Someone's baked cookies," she whispered. "I can smell it on the breeze."

Moving without hurry, Drusilla wandered toward the scent. Pausing in the shadows, she regarded the man with the wound. Dark eyes gleamed in the scant moonlight, and she took a few steps closer.

"Hello, baker," she greeted him cryptically. "I see you've sprung a leak there. I could clean that up," she offered before she laughed softly, a slight shrill, trilling note.

He glanced up when she approached, and a small little grin crossed his lips. Pretty girl, approaching at a steady pace. She either had strength to back herself up, or she was too crazy to realize what a dangerous situation she was ambling in to.

"Bit off more than I could chew," he said, and giggled, turning to give her a better view of the leaking injury. "Doctor come to play? Don't see your med kit. Going to magic my leak away?"

Maybe she was another monster, come to feast on what was left of him. If that was the case, she'd discover that she bitten off more than she could chew.

"Lick it away," she murmured. She continued her approach until she was within feet of him, and she regarded him solemnly. "Dark things out here," she whispered, gesturing vaguely with one hand. "Suppose that's what you've met though, isn't it? Dark and bitey, snapping in the darkness. Got a bite of you," she said as she crouched down to study his leg in the darkness.

"I'm not a doctor," she whispered. "But I can make the hurt go away."

Straightening herself up, she smiled as she moved around to the front of him, inhaling slowly. She could smell the blood, and she giggled softly.

He raised an eyebrow, but he couldn't deny the thrill of excitement that ran through him at her words. "Dark and bitey," he agreed. "Sank his teeth into me, but I sank my teeth right back." In a matter of speaking. He held up a blood soaked blade, the blood dripping down his hand.

He leaned back against the tree. "Don't much mind the hurt, but imagine that I am proving to be a tasty cookie." Vampire, he was almost certain, and the smell of blood had lured her over, and god he couldn't decide which way the stroke of luck fell on that one. Was he horribly unlucky or horribly lucky?

"Don't make the pain go away forever?" he told her quietly, his eyes dark. "Only for a little while."

If he thought she was drinking too much he'd... stab her or something. He'd find a way to get away. Maybe. If he wanted to.

Drusilla chuckled darkly as she eased closer. One hand trailed along the stranger's chest as she swayed before him, rather like a snake might before it struck.

Her attention was caught by the blade, and she reached out to run her fingertips along the bloody metal. Lifting her hand to her face, she turned her head away with a grimace. "This blood reeks of death," she said before she pouted. That was hardly fair. She didn't like the taste of dead blood. Crouching to wipe her fingers on the snow, leaving a quartet of streaks, she straightened again.

"Do you think you're dying now? From the inside to the outside as the bitey's death flows through your veins? Corruption and despair, all darkening your pretty, shiny blood?"

He didn't know the answer to that question, though he did groan when she stood up again, giving him a longing look. That wasn't fair - he couldn't help that his blood smelled like 'death', why was he being punished for that?

"I don't know," he admitted. "Always dying, aren't we? Blood aging with each passing second, bringing us closer to the end of pain and suffering?" he shifted and winced as he felt a new pain of poison edge up his body, and whimpered slightly. "Feels like something new, though, venom or poison or... think it's killing or changing me?"

Maybe it had been a vampire-dog.

"Change," she whispered, her eyes half-closing as she swayed to a song only she could hear. "Always changing, everything's changing. Lost my puppies. My dark angel, my Spike. They don't follow where I lead," she said, opening her eyes as she pouted.

She was curious about the venom, if there was venom. Would it hurt her? Would it taste different? "Want me to bite where there's already a bite? Find the prints and see if it matches my print?" She giggled softly. "Doggy's mouth is much bigger, if doggy bit you, ruff!"

Well, that was... comforting, he thought. He'd just change, not die. Or maybe, if it was going to keep getting more and more painful, he'd actually prefer dying. He wasn't really sure one way or the other.

"Turn on a light they can follow to find their way back," he suggested. "Can't imagine anyone choosing to stray away from you," he added. He may have been a bit awestruck. Dangerous monsters were always a favourite of his.

"Yes," he whispered, his voice quivering slightly. He could feel a quiver of temptaion coursing through him, vaguely desperate to feel the way her teeth would feel sinking into his skin. He thought to wonder if she was teasing him, but he did want it. His eyes fluttered closed again. "Yes," he repeated.

"Turn on the light," she echoed, nodding slightly. "Think that might work," she agreed. "Like a lantern fish, luring, always luring."

She knelt down, her fingers seeking out the wound on his leg. In the shadow of his body and the tree, she let her face change as her fangs descended. "Luring," she whispered before she growled a little, her mouth latching onto the back of his leg over the existing wound as she began to suck on the hole. It did taste off, at least at first. Soon enough though, she was tasting blood, only blood. Clean blood.

A soft purr vibrated her throat as she closed her eyes. She'd stop before too long ... she certainly didn't want any babies.

He gasped out as he felt the pang of her fangs sinking into his leg, his body arching off the ground and his muscles instinctively shying away from the intrusion of her teeth into his muscle. He could feel himself tensing, and instinctively jerking, but for the most part he managed to keep still.

There was pain at first, most assuredly, but even the darkest of pain could be exquisite in its own way. He closed his eyes and let the endorphins run through his body, feeling his consciousness pushing at the edge of his vision - he'd had a grueling night, after all, and his body really just wanted him to lie down here in the snow and let it all be over.

"Yes," he whispered desperately. "Oh yes, please, Goddess," he groaned, body shifting, all thoughts of ending this - ending here - forgotten for the moment as he just enjoyed the sensations.

Dru continued to drink before she regained her senses enough to draw away from him. Releasing his leg, she regarded the wound even as she eased her body back. Licking at her lips, she wiped away the blood that had gathered at the corners of her mouth before licking it off of her fingertips.

"Nasty thing that bit you," she said as she crouched down once again, lowering her face closer to his own and peering at him. She blinked and her features softened from the ridges it had contorted into, and she smiled lightly to him. "Tasted the vile and ick and it was unpleasant, but the cherries were at the bottom, covered and hidden," she purred as she stroked her fingers through his hair.

"It'll be cold," she whispered. "Cold, and beating hearts want shelter," she murmured on an exhalation.

He was sinking into a deep sleep, halfway between losing consciousness entirely and still being awake. Small, erratic giggling noises left his lips as his eyes fluttered closed, but he was awake enough to feel her drawing away, and a soft moan left his lips. His eyes opened halfway, looking at Dru with an awestruck, desperate, needful gaze as she leaned in towards him, and his head tilted towards her hands.

"Will you be mine?" he asked, his voice slurring slightly from the blood loss and his own growing desire. Even he wasn't sure if he meant in the sense of lover, or if he meant that he wanted her to be his shelter.

He was fast growing attached - though it could hardly be surprising, as the vampire fetish had always been a turn on for him - and she wasn't doing anything to help the situation. Like pushing him away. Or killing him.

"I belong to no mortal," she whispered, tipping her chin up toward the sky. It had started to snow again, and she watched the flakes as they descended. She was aware that if she left him here, he would die ... and he seemed to like her.

"My puppy's gone away," she whispered, a touch of sorrow to her voice. "Slipped back through the cracks, drawn the picture in reverse. Poof." She giggled softly before she moved closer to him, crouching down to lift him up.

"Snowmen melt," she breathed. "But the cold makes corpses of the real men." Swiftly she carried him back toward the motel she'd been staying in, to the room they'd broken into. At least there he'd be warm and could tend to his wound better than if she simply left him out here.

He hadn't meant that, had he? That she would belong to him? He giggled a bit, not really sure what he meant at all but feeling like he should clarify. "No," he agreed, bobbing his head. "I'm yours, and that's that." He giggled again, though giggling was starting to hurt now.

"Slipped his lead?" he murmured to her puppy comment, wondering if she meant a really puppy. Was he meant to be a dog to her? ... Was he turning into one of the devil dogs? He laughed out loud at that. He wasn't entirely sure how to feel about that, or if that was even what he was supposed to be understanding from her comments. Maybe she hadn't been talking about him at all.

Aside from the way the world spun - which could very easily have been from the medication - Tory did not noticed that he had been picked up and was being carried except for the fact that Dru was much closer to him. "Don't want to melt," he mumbled almost sleepily, turning towards her and leaning into her hold on him. His lips searched out skin, and if they couldn't find any settled for clothing, nibbling and kissing at it in what passed for affection in his twisted mind. He giggled again, rather excited about this turn of events for the evening, in more ways than one.

"I didn't keep him on a leash," she said. "Next time, I will," she decided. "So the bad puppy can't dig the garden and slip the fence to find a new mistress." Something flickered behind her eyes, but whatever it was was passing, brief.

Drusilla glanced down at the clearly delirious man, and she smiled softly, affectionately, almost fondly. Perhaps she could have a pet in this one for a bit, though he might be dead by morning. Like the birds in the cage, all feet up and cold.

She frowned. "Don't go feet up," she whispered as she moved through the hallways to the room. Once inside, she deposited him gently on the bed, stepping back to regard him.

Don't go feet up? He giggled softly at that, the message clear enough even if the symbolism was lost on him. He was picturing... well, he didn't know what he was picturing, but he certainly wasn't picturing birds.

"It'll take more than a rabid dog to make me go feet up," he mumbled quietly, but it was true enough. He'd been through worse. Just because he couldn't think of what exactly it was, right now, did not mean that it wasn't true.

He was starting to lose consciousness, his body determined to fall asleep no matter what he told it about staying awake. He wondered, if he just slept for a moment, or just slipped away into a sort of half sleep, if he would die or if he would just change. He supposed he'd find out - at this rate, in less than a minute he'd be asleep.

Dru watched as he slipped away. Perhaps to sleep. Perhaps to death. She was indifferent as she settled herself onto the other bed.

For a moment, she felt alone. The moment passed quick enough though, and she smiled; the loneliness had barely registered.

For now. Soon, it may be a more pressing issue, but right now she was fine.

Flipping through the channels on the TV, she settled on something new that looked lovely and horrible and bloody.
