Uuuuuuuugh. Another day, and nothing had happened. Not in the European safehouse, at least. The most exciting thing had been the arrival of the students from the Asian safehouse, and Juli couldn’t help but be a little jealous of them - at least they’d seen some action. All Juli had seen was the inside of the training room - there had been no leads, no activity, nothing. And it was irritating. Slumped in a chair with her arms crossed she said with a disgruntled sigh to the students still milling about, “We’re never going to do anything you know. We’re just going to be stuck here. Training. Forever.” Just passing the disgruntled Julieta, Bianca overheard her grumbles and paused in her trek back to her barracks within the European safehouse. She looked at the Spaniard with an expression of perplexion. "Juli," she began, her voice softer and only a little chiding. "That isn't true. The others from Asia have been rescued, and we will rescue everyone else, too. It won't be happening all at the same time." “You mean everyone else except for Providence,” Juli snapped back, not interested in optimism at the moment. Miyu was back, which had her relieved, but there were still other people who weren’t. “Because, just in case you forgot? She died. So we won’t rescue her. And she’s probably not the only one that’s going to die, either. So we need to find the rest. Before they die, too.” "I have not forgotten," Bianca murmured quietly. Had that not been one of her reasons for volunteering and agreeing to join the rescue operations? She did not know Providence Segoku all that well except by sight and name but Bianca had felt that she now owed an immense debt to Providence and owed her help for the other girl's sacrifice. Bianca's expression hardened and she appeared more resolved. "We will find the rest and they will not die. Many of us have powers to help stop that." It was true, when there were some vols who could manipulate the very materials that weapons were comprised of, and when some could foresee the future and anticipate moves, and when some could, like Bianca, incapacitate their foes with a grip of the hand. Well. In theory. Bianca had not been practicing her ability like she perhaps should have been for this occasion. “Yeah, but we need to find them first,” Juli said, flinging her arms out dramatically. “And we haven’t. There are no leads. Absolutely none at all. Why the fuck didn’t any of them get chips?!” she said, the frustration she was feeling obvious. She felt helpless at the moment, and she didn’t like feeling helpless. That’s why she’d volunteered, but volunteering apparently didn’t mean anything, really, except for waiting and extra training sessions. And if there was something Juli was really bad at, it was patience. “I hate all the waiting,” she admitted. Frowning lightly at Juli's outburst and then again at her more melancholy confession, Bianca came to realize what and where Juli was coming from. "Oh bella, I hate the waiting too," she said, edging closer to Julieta and placing a hand on her shoulder. "It is too hard, no? Not doing much and thinking and thinking and thinking. But we only need to wait a little while more until the vol tracker girl comes to us. She will be giving us all of the leads we will need. But we only just rescued her today, no?" “Yeah,” Juli said, allowing herself to be hopeful for a moment. James hadn’t been able to do a whole lot yet, but maybe Immy would. And if they found out where they were being held, then the rescue team could move in and then they’d have something to do and actually be useful. Hopefully. But then she crossed her arms again and said grumpily “Well, she better hurry up.” A wide smile broke out on Bianca's lips and she laughed, hugging Juli to her. When she released the other girl not very long after, she said, "Maybe to pass the time we can do combat training? I do not know about you but I am still having a lot of energy. Maybe then Imogen will be here." Juli wasn’t entirely sure what she’d felt about the friendly gesture from Bianca, this laughing, optimistic, happy girl she hardly knew that was convinced everything was going to be okay. Part of her wanted to push herself away, but another part of her just wanted the reassurance it was going to be okay. It was so difficult and so tiring and Juli just wanted something to happen so that she’d know it was going to be over soon. But that wasn’t coming in the immediate future, she suspected. So she had to find other things to do. “Combat training? I can do that. Wait,” she said, pausing suspiciously. “What’s your power? Does it give you some sort of edge?” "No, no," Bianca said quickly, shaking her head of blonde waves. She didn't want to tell Julieta what her power contained, because she didn't want to scare the other girl. "I won't be using my power, I promise. It is something to do with psychic energy but I cannot use it right now. Come on," she said with a smile, jerking her head toward the training rooms. Juli eyed her for a moment, trying to figure out what ‘psychic energy’ meant. Whatever it was, it didn’t seem all that dangerous - how dangerous could one of the mind-powers be, really - so she reluctantly agreed, nodding. “Okay, fine. I could do that.” |
