Hunter had promised, but Hunter was gone. Audra remained seated upright in her bed, looking around the large room that she had woken up to yesterday. There were only three of them left and the others were gone. Gone. Gone... where? The only logical conclusion Audra could come up with was that they had somehow made it out. Made it out without them, even if there was nothing that really indicated that. Perhaps she was ready, eager, to accept that she was left behind. No one would want y-- Audra fell back into her bed silently, a pillow over her head, as if to keep the voices out. Her heart ached and she longed to cry, but couldn’t even muster the energy for tears. “Dodo, l'enfant do,” she sang to herself quietly. “L'enfant dormira bien vite..” |
